Banjogal,
Not crazy at all. Absolutely there is an emotional component to this addiction. Start trying to replace this old coping strategy with new ones. Here are a few ideas, hope they help:
* Keep busy: Take on a project, it can be as simple as reorganizing a closet, painting a wall or exploring an interest
* Keep a journal: Letting it all out on paper may give you the emotional outlet you need and it may also help you sort through your feelings.
* Seek support: Whether it be from friends, family or an additional support group outside the AHC.
* Keep track: Keeping track of where, when and why you are drinking may help you identify triggers, barriers and patterns.
* Set a goal: Use the program tools to set a new goal and review your strategies for keeping it. If you need any help, just ask.
