Start of my quit smoking journey

Hi Angelwings
I know that feeling of simply NEEDING to quit this time. All the best with it - lots of people have done it, and I reckon we can too! In a way, it is kind of exciting, in amongst the withdrawal symptoms...

Welcome Angelwings66,

Congrats on getting started. I am sorry about the circumstanced that motivated your quit; but, I am happy both you and your husband are quitting. You quitting, is a great gift you are giving to your husband. This will certainly help him to stay motivated with you as his quit buddy.  Just remember, being moody is a part of quitting so try to be extra kind with each other.

YOU WILL DO THIS! I'm looking forward to reading about it.

Hi Angelwings66,
Welcome to the stop smoking center. Congratulations on deciding to quit.  I too used the patch to help me quit. Not sure if I could have quit without it. Sorry to hear about your husbands heart attack. Like you said, he has to decide for himself if he wants to make the journey with you. We both know you can't force someone to quit, they have to do it on their own. "I WILL DO THIS" That's right, keep that CAN DO attitude with you at all times. It might not be easy, but if you are bound and determined, you CAN do this.
How long did your last quit last? Do you know why you started back up, and can you avoid doing it again? If you have the time, you might want to read through these forums. There is a lot of good information in here to help you along your journey.  Maybe you can relate to some if it and be able to fight off those urges and triggers. I wish you the best on this journey and there is light at the end of the tunnel.Cheers!
Stay strong!

Hi all, Happy New Year! This is my first day of quitting using the Nicotine Patch. I've tried to quit many times in the past but have fallen. This time, I really want to QUIT. My husband had a heart attack 3 days after retiring in September 2018 and that really shook me to the core. It has taken me a while to really decide that I have to quit NOW and ensure that I leave this nasty habit in the past. My husband HAS to quit also because the risks for him are very high. I can only encourage him to go on this journey with me but he will, ultimately, need to make that decision on his own. I'm determined to kick the habit this time and thanks to this support group offered through my work, I WILL DO THIS. Let's all make this year the year we break free and live again. Cheers!
