Hi Junebug,
Way to go making it two days without a smoke.   Ditto to what Jim suggests. Read read read. The more you know what to expect, the easier it will be to deal with the urges. Hang in there it does get easier with time.

Hey Junebug!!!

Welcome to the SSC!!!  Congrats for making it past the first day and it looks like you're doing OK so far!    This may be the hardest thing that you have ever done, but it will be the MOST rewarding thing that you will ever do for yourself!  If you want your quit more than you want to smoke, your chances of success will be high!

I'd recommend that even though you have already started your quit you should go through the Program (above tab) to help you better prepare for whats coming!  Also, check out the Tools, too!  The Program is proven to help you be successful in quitting.  Read through the different threads here on the Forums, too!  There is a wealth of information here posted by some great quitters.  If there is something specific you would like to know, just ask or use the search button on the Forum main page.  It's all good!

Crave the quit, Junebug!!!  Freedom is awesome!!!

Today is my day 2! So far so good. How are you doing?

You're doing great Rete!

It's completely normal to be nervous just starting out. The more you learn and the more you stay away from nicotine the more you will feel confident about this. Just keep going!

Keep us updated on how you are doing.

Rete

I too am very scared of the first weekend.  But I think we can do it.  We've gotten this far - right?  Remember the goal... we can do this.

Oh My!  Thank you all for the support.  Here it is DAY THREE of my non-smoking life.  It is not a walk in the park but it is doable.  The weekend is going to be difficult because that is when I have so much free time to myself and when I smoked the heaviest.  So I plan on doing things outside of the house this weekend.  Going to drive down along the Hudson River and look for Eagles who are now calling the lower parts of New York State home because their northern region is too icy to find food.  Thought I would take in a movie with a friend on Saturday night and a late meal afterwards ... or better yet, Treat Myself to an Ice Cream Soda At Hagen Dosh <sp>

Hi Rete,

Do stay as determined as you are right now, and you will make it.  Do not let anything or anyone get between you and your quit!  It is a life saver.  I am on oxygen therapy now....not all the time, but I can tell you it is worth avoiding if you can!

Whatever it takes, just don't smoke!!!

Hey Rete648!!!

Welcome to the SSC and I am in hopes that congratulations are in order for completing your first and almost second day without smoking!!!  I just love it when someone gets so sick and tired of their addiction that they just jump in feet first and start kicking that nico-demon's ash!!!  Way to go!

This may be the hardest thing that you will ever do, but I promise that it will be the MOST rewarding thing you will ever do, too!  Just keep on reminding yourself over and over that you DO want your freedom more than you want to smoke!  That's the way to get it done!!!  Continue on with the Program and utilize the Tools, too!  Every bit of information and knowledge you get will come in handy while you are on your path to freedom!  Stick close and holler if you need a hand!  We're all rooting for you!!!!

Great! Congratulation Reter648 for making one of the best decisions of your life- Not to smoke again! Good luck!

first couple of days are really hard to pass - here is tip. Do not think about the good times you've had while smoking.  Think about all the bad things/troubles caused because of smoking this will help you to hate smoking.

Good luck!
