Day 8 MADE IT THROUGH THE WEEKEND !!!!

Hey Determinator!

We've been referring to the 3rd week as Blah Week.  It's that week where the newness of the quit has somewhat worn off and one's Positive Mental Attitude can somewhat wane.  The process of quitting starts to ware on you a bit and it can be more of a struggle to keep psyched up about kicking ash.  So, now you are fore-warned and fore-armed!  The thing is, if you can keep that PMA going strong you'll have nothing to worry about!

You do sound a lot like me when I first stared on my journey!  I wasn't "overly confident", but I just knew that since I had made it through that first week that I really did have a fantastic chance for finally gaining my freedom!  After getting the nicotine out of my system, it was just a mental war.  I wanted my quit more than anything and fought for it and I finally believed that I could do it!  That made all the difference in the world on this quit!

Like I said, you're on the right path!  Don't worry about the little bouts of "Grrrrr" every now and then!  It's going to happen.  Just log in and let it loose!  We'er all great listeners here and many will have some kind words of wisdom and support!  We're all rooting for you, buddy!

Yay, Determinator. So glad you made it through the weekend. I was actually a little worried when I didn't see post for a day or two.   So it is good to hear that you held up and that you are putting your extra time to good use.

Awesome news, Buddy!

Congrats on making it through HELL Week and welcome to Heck Week!  You're doing great so far!    It sounds like you are maintaining an even keel for the most part and are really starting to realize the benefits of quitting and that is a HUGE realization!  It sounds like your crave basket is serving you well, but you might want to consider buying a pack of plastic straws and cut them in half... that way they will go twice as far!

It's great to hear that you are doing well!  You might want to set up your quit meter here so that you can track your progress!  It's great to see your quit stats every time you log in and is a great motivational tool, as well!  Keep on doing what you are doing, Buddy!  It seems to be working great for you!

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Pure Determination and the N.O.P.E. motto helped me make it through the weekend without a smoke !!  So I went to the birthday party/concert Friday... many smokers around (luckily it was smoking outside only at the venue) I felt out of place and really strange at the venue, which is normally a second home for me. I didn't know what to do when all my friends were smoking and drinking around me, so I my wife (who has been a great supporter) went and ordered a water and sprite... they gave us straws... which little did I know would be something that got me through the night !!!   We watch 3 bands and hung out with friends and by the end of it I was 3 sticks of gum in and 1 poor poor straw that got all the anger and frustration of watching people smoke and smelling smoke out on it by chewing it to death !! HAHAHAHA  Decided against the after party and went on home ! Sat. morning I woke up like I had won a war !! After making it through Friday.. Sat. and Sunday were not to bad.   Kept myself busy by going to the park and walking some trails, working on the house, taking a drive with some good music and working on a guitar project and lots and lots of Lolly pops...  I had more lolly pops over the weekend than Ive had in 3 years combined !! But if it got me through the weekend then that works for me.  I had a few minor FITS OF RAGE for no apparent reason but they only lasted about 5-7 min. and then went away and I was fine again.  I will be glad when those Fits stop....   but all and all, I feel great, like really great... no more chest pains, no more coughing up a lung, no more mental games of "is something wrong with me because I smoke", no more wasting a lot of time doing nothing but smoking on the back porch... actually being productive and enjoying life now. I haven't felt this alive since I was a kid (PRE SMOKING) !  I hope this week is even better than last week !! Fingers crossed and HERE WE GO !! Thanks for all the support from everyone on here. Couldn't wait to get back on here and spill my guts about my accomplishment over the weekend !!
