Yay! So nice to hear that you have pushed through some of the anxious days and are still hanging in there. Staying smoke free is an awesome gift to give to yourself.

Feeling great actually, how can you not feel good this close to Christmas?  Anxiety seems to be in the evenings, which is usually when I would smoke.  It seems to creep up and really make me feel like relaxing with a cigarette.  I have found that having a positive attitude and pushing out any negative thoughts or fears seems to help.   Thanks everyone, for your support.

Merry Christmas to all!

Welcome Sharon!

Congratulations on 45 days. Anxiety is common during a quit. Exercise and relaxation techniques can help.

How are you feeling today?

Hey Sharon!!!

Welcome to the SSC!!!  Wow!  You're doing great so far!  Quitting can bring out a LOT of emotional and chemical changes in our brain.  We were used to our nicotine fix to stimulate our brains 15 - 20 times a day and now all that is gone!  Also, as I mentioned to another new quitter here, smoking may have masked or subdued other chemical imbalances that we had prior to when we started to smoke or just developed as grew older.  Since you said that you were experiencing "a bit of anxiety", it may not be anything that is serious.  It may be caused from the stress of the season or family issues, etc.  As long as you are aware of it and it isn't causing you any serious setbacks right now, monitor and maybe log your anxiety feelings.  If they get much worse, see someone!    Many of our quit buddies finally realized after they quit that they really did have chemical imbalances which required medication and are now doing great and are still smoke free!!!

Check out the "My Program" tab above and start learning more about quitting and it's effects on us.  Also, you might want to do a search here on the Forums home page on "anxiety" to see what other threads pop up for you to read!   There is a wealth of information from your new fellow quit buddies here on the Forums!   Stick close, read and learn and be sure to post when you have questions or just want to rant!  We're good listeners!!!

Hi Everyone, My name is Sharon and I am a third time quitter.  Last cigarette was November 1 this year - feels like forever ago......
I am experiencing a bit of anxiety.  Anyone else felt that way?  Does anyone know if it is related to quitting smoking? Any suggestions would be appreciated!  Thanks.
