DAY 3 AND IT HURTS!!!

14 years ago 0 916 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
You can be codependant as long as you don't smoke. I found that deep breathing helped me a lot too. And just take one craving at a time. Every time you kick the nicodemon it becomes weaker. Stay strong and do whatever you need to do to stay smober!
Keep the good work and be proud of yourself

I know perhaps I am a little co-dependent on this site right now but I am having a really hard time this morning! It just comes in waves and then goes. The urge is so strong that I think I will just take a hot bath and go back to sleep - wake up and just get on with my day. I can see why they call this "Hell Week"....not an understatement!

Featherdancer, congrats on 3 days smoke free.  The first week is a bugger, but it slowly gets better.  Take one day, one craving at a time.  Reward each day smoke free right now or every major crave that you beat.  Keep ice water handy, and chewing gum works wonders as well.  Best of luck in your quit!

Welcome to SSC, Featherdancer!  You've definitely come to the right place.  There's lots of help and support here.  We're pretty proud of all our quitters, and real glad you joined us.
You seem pretty intent on doing this and that goes a long way.  Always remember to have your coping tools in place and don't look any further ahead than one crave...one day at a time.  Baby steps will get the job done.

You CAN do this!!!!!

Cheers,
Jan

WOW!! You guys are GREAT!! I am having coffee right now and dying for a cigarette but am NOT going to have one. Instead I am just deep breathing and thinking of how much healthier I will be once this is over. I am pretty convinced that if I can get through the first month smoke free then I will not ever smoke. This is the challenge - right now!!

Sorry I haven't been around much. I'm entertaining a very special visitor this week--my best friend. She came out from California this past weekend, and we've been doing theatre and the zoo.

What I want to say is, Way to go, Featherdancer! There is a lot of recovery on this board. Stick with the Winners.

I have to admit I would probably still be smoking except I am currently enrolled in Chemical Addiction studies and the more I learned about nicotine, etc., the more ridiculous it seemed to me to be buying into this  - I am off to explore more on this site and read some posts. Thanks EVERYBODY!!!

Featherdancer, welcome to the SSC and congratulations on 2 days smoke free!  You've been given some wonderful advice.  Here are some suggestions to help you with your quit as these helped me!.  Use all of the resources here under "my program" so you have a plan in place.  Preparation is key to success, and we want you to have a plan to tackle anything the nicodemon throws your way.  Set up a reward system to celebrate each passed craving (small reward), each smoke free day (medium reward), and each smoke free week (larger reward).  Treat yourself like royalty as this quit is all about you!!!  Drink lots of iced water to flush the toxins out of your body and help with the cravings.  Read, read, and read some more as there is a wealth of knowledge and experiences here at the SSC.  Use the search feature here to look up topics affecting your quit to see what other members have done.  I like how you are typing instead of smoking.  Change your scenery, find new habits, hobbies, things to keep busy!  If you need to excuse yourself from a stressful situation, do it!  Your friends won't mind!  And post as often as you need, if only to rant and rave as somebody is always near by!  We're all rooting for your success!

Welcome aboard Feather dancer!

We are all proof that this battle can be won! Get your bottle of water, practice deep breathing and get set to spend some time on this site. All of these things will get you through. Take one day, one minute or one hour at a time. Don't think too far ahead. Just get through each crave. Trust me--it Does get easier. It is so worth the initial investment.

You CAN do this....
