Hi, like you am new here, I am now starting day 3 and up to now things not been too bad. I also have a smoker in the house like you and they have agreed not to smoke around me or leave they ciggy packs in view.
I have tried before but this time like you I just don't enjoy being a smoker anymore, and for health reasons I really need to do it this time.

All the best of luck with your quit and remember that if you feel like your giving in just log on here and let us know

Hi Brelaine, welcome!!!
Congratulations! Your decision to quit is the best gift you can ever give to yourself! Have ice water on hand,; write your reasons to quit and read them everyday.
Popsicles, sunflower seeds, celery sticks, carrots and plastic straws help with our oral fixation to have something in our mouth.
Relaxing music, bubble baths, walking your beautiful dog and hot showers are great relaxing tools.
Rest as much as you can; I felt energy drained for the first 5 days!
Take a B complex supplement; helps with moodiness
Non sugar added fruit juices are great too!
Set a reward system! You deserve to be rewarded everytime you reach a milestone!
Keep a positive attitude! Ypu are not leaving your best friend! You are braking free from slavery and addiction!

One little saying that has stuck with me over many quits is "I'd rather be a non-smoker who occasionally wants a cigarette than a smoker who constantly wants to quit."

The other thing to remember is HALT -- as in Never let yourself get too Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired --- a trap I'm always falling into --- and I like to add S for scared.

Nice having you around!
