My son now towers over me, he'd watch movies with me, but he WOULD NOT allow me to pause the movie, if I wanted to smoke, I had to miss that part of the movie.  By the way, when did movies get to be soooo long??  Funny, that was always torture to me, now it is something I look forward to ~ a nice L O N G escape from reality with no distractions!!!   I do love finding new reasons to be happy that I quit!
 
I have VERY sensitive teeth, so cold water is very hard for me - why does everyone keep saying cold water / ice water?  What does this do?  I did cut up some popsicles yesterday and spooned them into my mouth - very refreshing, but is there more that I'm missing?
 
Also, I haven't read much about writing a good-bye letter to smoking.  Did anyone else do this?  I cried my eyes out writing this letter, and when I can remember to read it, it really helps me through - knowing how much of my life I gave up just so I could smoke ~ not going places, not doing things with loved ones, etc...

You do sound determined and I'm sure everyone who cares about you (including everyone here) supports your quit. We are very much a power of example to our children. We've all been where you are and  none of us would still be here smokefree had we not all continuously improved. The previous two quits I used the patch and struggled (for months) to stay quit. This time I used Chantex and it worked very well for me. I smoked more than twice as long as you did. Please do not put this off like me. You still have time to reverse all the damage. Hang in there! There is a bright light at the end of the tunnel.!

Sherry- this may not work for everyone but it works for me and it might help you. I noticed you talking about the 'first two weeks' and not imagining getting through 'two weeks'- try to not see it as weeks, try day by day, or my mantra 'one day at a time' as every day quit is a day behind you.
When I had a bad depressive day last Friday, I came straight on here for support but also noted that it was 9 p.m and that meant only three more hours till this awful day was over- and it was! and here I am now almost at the end of 'heck week' try it please- one day at a time.

I know I will get through this roller coaster ride. I keep telling myself I will. They say the 1st two weeks are the worse. Day one I couldn't even imagine getting threw that day let alone fight for 2 weeks like this. I am determined  This is the one thing that I believe holds me back from the ones I love. My daughter has been put off and put off just because I had to finish my cigg. Not NO More!!!!!! Everyone else too but especially my daughter. I want her to see even more importantly that no matter what she can do what she sets her mind too. Not really sure what cold water does but I have been chewing the heck out of Ice

  Welcome to the SSC and congratulations on your decision to quit once again!!!  You won't be sorry!!!  Take the time to go through the program and the milestones in the program!!  They will really help understand this addiction a little bit better and help you to be better prepared!!!  Reading  through the threads will also help!!!  We're all here to help, so if you get to a point where you are craving really bad, post and wait for at least 5 replies!!!  By then your craving will be gone!!!

 I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling a bit twisted during these few early quit days... the cravings are terrible  things but you CAN surmount them - do whatever you have to do to get rid of those thoughts about smoking... distract yourself with real intent and comittment.   Focus your whole Self on this breaking of the addiction. Just know that it will subside.  You will have your deep breathing exercises to do and always have an iced cold water standing by to drink when you get the insistent nagging from the addiction.  Soyez calme, Cherie...
