Hi Karren & welcome!!!

Yes--this site is amazing; and as Patrick & Den have said it has had one of the biggest impacts on many here during this battle.

The things that have been invaluable to me:
--self talk (smoking is not an option--NOPE)
--Lots of cold water & deep breaths
--Daily reading and posting on this site (I think the first month I was on here 3-4 hours daily)
--Seeing that this battle can be won (by 'real' true smokers) has been so inspiring...

Best wishes on your journey...walk with us--there is strength in numbers...

Deb

One more thing!!!

Positive Mental Attitude!!!  Look at your first sentence.... you really have to look at this as your LAST  QUIT....PERIOD!!!!      Always be positive in your thoughts and you will have a better chance at succeeding!!!  You are not "trying" to quit, YOU HAVE QUIT!!!  Look at it this way, you are on day 7, right???  You want to go through those first 7 days again????  I didn't think so!!!!    So is that inspiration enough for you???

Be positive and keep telling yourself    I  CAN  DO  THIS!!!   I  AM  A  NON - SMOKER!!!  Keep believing it and it will happen!!!!

Hey Karren!

Welcome to the SSC!!!  Wow, look at you!!  You have gotten HELL WEEK out of the way and are moving on to Heck Week!!!  You have done a great job so far in your quit in my opinion!!!  We hope that you visit frequently, especially if you have some uncontrollable cravings!!!  If you do, our routine around here is to post and wait for 5 replies and by the end of that time your crave will have passed!!!

There is a wealth of information in the program as well as in the different threads!!!  Educate yourself and your quit will be much more tolerable!!!  There is a section her of interest to you about the eating habit you mentioned!!  Hey, don't worry about it right now, concentrate on your quit!!  Then worry about the weight issues!!!  There are some great suggestions on the forum on replacements for the rubbish you've been eating!!!

So, again, welcome and stay strong!!!  Remember NOPE, Not One Puff Ever !!!!  YOU CAN DO IT!!!

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

Hello everyone, I am on Day 7 of my first 'quit' attempt. I have smoked 25 a day for the best part of 37 years and although I am pleased to have arrived at day 7, I found this board because I was feeling very down and a little bit weepy today (Idont know why really) and so was searching the Internet for some inspiration, motivation and support.
I guess one of my bug bears is that I am eating rubbish to replace the smoking and I have always been so in control of my weight, however, I just cannot focus on quitting smoking and watching my diet and so today felt very out of control.
Anyway its almost 9 p.m here so another day is almost done!
Thanks for letting me share guys, and its nice to 'meet' you all.
