tkusant welcome, why did you pick such an easy name to remember how to spell? sounds to me like you have your tools and are ready to tackle the addiction. Power through. each time you power through a crave the next one is easier. You are in control. It is your decission to quit and your decission to never smoke again. I look forward to watching you become a non-smoker. Thanks for your encouragement. I will need it throughout the day and night. I have read through the workbook, so I am prepared. I little nervous about driving to work, but I have my straws ready to be chewed. Welcome to our site, Tkusant...get ready for a terrific ride! As the others have said, keep close to the site, and use any of the techniques that they've advised already. I used peanuts to ease my craves. Don't forget always..Post before you smoke..Wait for at least five responses..10 is better. The cravings will pass. Let's get this done!! And Patrick, our lives do depend on it! definatly read through the program. i reward myself every time i make the decision not to smoke.. and in the beginning that would mean i would have a piece of chocolate or gum in my mouth every second. YOU know how to best reward yourself. read everything you can, on this site on other sites (my favorite, are the "scared straight" ones with sick pictures that, most governments put out for teens. and post with "help" in the title if your having trouble.. post before you smoke. and come back even if you do and now from the LLama i'd like to share this image... You're sitting in a filthy little room and it's about 35C and you're in you're best suit and shirt and tie and sitting at a table with nothing on it but a huge salad bowl filled with a brown and black soup of cigarette butts and it is stinking in the unventilated room and you can do nothing but smell that stink but you cannot lift your hands to move it away from you. Two other things are happening and they're happening fast. You can't move from the table and your body is moving face-first into that deep bowl of filth. Now, a disembodied voice, your own voice, tells you that you can have a puff on a cigarette if you stick your face in the soup for two seconds. -welcome to the site!!

Welcome, I see you have your quit meter all ready to go. I assume that would mean that you have read thru the program. Use the tools outlined in there and post here often. Water, water and more water. I used nuts, carrots, fruit, gum, and sugar free Jolly Ranchers. And I've begun chewing on straws. Stick close to this site, it is a huge support. Welcome to SSC and congratulations on your decision to stop smoking! You are giving yourself an amazing gift! Hard candy, gum, cold water, and sunflower seeds will help you along. Drinking out of a straw and deep breathing also helped me a great deal. The greatest help of all was reading and posting here at SSC! Hang out with us, ask questions, and read as much as you can. You CAN do this!
