Hello A Smoke In answer to your question, yes indeed, I was a chain smoker. And I too used the patch to get a running start on this thing. You will do well to hang around here, I guarantee that it will help you put this addiction away. Read, post and work...You will be successful... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 166 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,980 Amount Saved: $1,162.00 Life Gained: Days: 30 Hrs: 7 Mins: 40 Seconds: 53

I had a hard time with the phone also. Now, I think I pace around the house while on the phone, or stand in the kitchen. It just feels awkward at first, but you adapt in no time! How are you doing Anewme? I hope better. My weakness is the telephone. Every time I pick it up, I have a "habit" of also grabbing a smoke and heading outside. My cats (five outdoor ones) will miss my smoking because they got lots of attention all day every day! Sitting on the porch, phone resting on shoulder and pressed to my ear, one hand holding a cigarette, and the other petting my kitties. :) On the bright side, I will now be able to pet two cats at once instead of one! One stitch now saves having to make 9 later. When you see a hole appearing in your sweater or such - literally. Just in case you really didn't know! smokefreeme Exactly! The more you have smoked in a particular location/situation/time of day, the more powerful the trigger. You have thousands of associations related to that particular thing. Maybe you could move the chair, give yourself a different reward at the end of the day? Yesterday I bumped up a thread in "Preventing Relapse and Slipping", called "Why You Think About Smoking" or something like that. The original post explains it well. That is so amazing about yours and boxerfan's Maddies! I guess you two are official quit buddies now....or should consider it anyway -aloha My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 77 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,080 Amount Saved: $523.60 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 19 Mins: 55 Seconds: 13

Is that like "A Stitch in time saves nine" I always wondered that the 9 meant, guess it means 9 minutes of your live! Stitching is a great way not to smoke. Take it from me - I'm a textile artist. Good lock with the quit. Just keep on keeping on and slowly the days tick by. I know you're not going to believe this, but the pic I have here is of our only female....Maddi. We also call her Maddi Mae. This is unbelievable. I promise, I'm not making this up. I just showed my husband your post. Our boys are Merlin and Jester (from the movie Top Gun). We had a Maverick that passed away about a year ago. Sitting in your chair is a trigger. The more you do it, the less it will bother you. For me, driving was hard. I chain smoked on the drive to and from work. Now, it really doesn't bother me at all. Instead of smoking while driving to work, I have a breakfast bar. On the way home, I chew gum. Find something to distract yourself. Im slowly but surely learning how to set up my profile thing. Boxerfan, Heres a pic of my boxer Madison AKA Maddie May. Shes the first boxer we've ever had and to be honest, at first I didnt want a big dog. I'd always had small dogs but once we got her home that was it. She stole my heart hook, line and sinker! I cant imagine ever having another breed. Lainey, being outdoors has been a huge help in these first few days. It keeps me busy and my flowers sure appreciate the extra attention. lol I'm not sure if I should attempt knitting right now, seems like everytime I sit down the urge to smoke hits. Night time is the worst for some reason. I do fairly well during the day when theres lots to do but when the sun goes down oh boy. I keep reading about 'triggers' is it possible that my recliner is a trigger? End of the day, chores are done, sit in the recliner and POW! The urge hits like a freight train! Hey Asmokefreeme, I am a knitter, I also garden so have been outdoors doing that most of this spring. But other times when I quit, I found the knitting to be very helpful in keeping my hands busy, plus stocked up on baby gifts for friends that I knitted at the same time. Do whatever you can to keep busy for the first little while. It all helps.! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 93 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,325 Amount Saved: $981.15 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 11 Mins: 1 Seconds: 40
