I've Had Enough

Hadenough, Although vivid dreams are common among all quitters no matter their method, you may benefit from speaking with your pharmacist. A simple change in your treatment such as the time or dose may be helpful but again your pharmacist is the best to advise you on this matter. Danielle ____________________ The SSC Support Team

Your cats there are gorgeous. You had better quit smoking around those babies. Look at those eyes and their expressions. Hi HadEnough I had some interrupted sleep, but I sometimes do anyway, so I'm not much help on that. So, how are you feeling otherwise? Excited? Scared? All normal. It sounds like you are really ready, so you will do fine...one second, one minute, one hour, one day at a time. Good thinking on the rearranging your office and cleaning all the nicotine out. Have you thought of some different things to do when you're waiting for pages to load? Hi HadEnough I found on Chantix that I had to take it with food and water to keep the nausea away, and that if you take the pill right after dinner but not after 7:00 or 7:30 pm the dreams aren't so bad. Hope that helps and congrats on your decision to quit. HadEnough, Please be sure to take the Chantix after you have eaten something. Taking it on an empty stomach is more likely to produce nausea. They recommend a full glass of water also, but I only drank enough to get them down. Many of us have had the weird dreams. As long as they aren't scary ones, try to look at them as a positive...even enjoy them if possible. I looked forward to them as free entertainment...oh, the places I saw and the people I met in those dreams! I actually miss them now! There are several posts about the vivid dreams others have had. Try taking your final pill with your dinner, or even earlier if you can eat a little something. I never had trouble going back to sleep after awakening from one of the dreams. Sometimes I went right back to the same dream...like a sequel! Embrace the idea that you are going to be smoke free. I'm on day 4 of Chantix, 2 pills a day insted of one. I get a little nauseous for a few hours after taking it, but it usually goes away. I've started having wierd dreams too and wake up 3 & 4 times a night. I'm kind of dreading tonight since I'll be taking another pill, afraid I won't get any uninterrupted sleep. Any other Chantix users have interrupted sleep? Well I was able to get a prescription for Chantix today. I will start tomorrow. My new target date is June 8th. I'm really getting psyched up for this! and look forward the the vivid dreaming since I can sometimes make myself realize I'm dreaming and direct the dream. It's a hoot when I can! I though about something else that is an incentive to make me quit. One day when I was doing a spring cleaning and was wiping off all my office equipment, I sprayed some 409 on my printer that had toner stains to see if it would come off and was horrified to see that it was literally coated in nicotine. That nice golden patina was nicotine! I think it's better to wait a week too because I've decide to totally rearrange my office and clean off all my surfaces to get the nicotine off (you all might want to buy stock in 409 cause it will probably take hundreds of gallons to get if off of everything). My thinking is that a change of scenery and absence of the norm will help quell the knee jerk reaction of grabbing a smoke during a lull in the internet (even with dsl it takes time to load pages). We are all creatures of habit and well know that .. by changing the surroundings, the habit will not be reinforced. I'm thankful that I have essentially only smoked in the living room, office and bathroom. A coat of paint will take care of the walls & ceilings. I'm gonna test my 409 carpet cleaner and see if it removes nicotine as well .. if it does, I will treat the carpet and all my furniture. Don't worry HadEnough! It is exciting! You are doing something totally wonderful for you and no one else! You are giving yourself one of the greatest gifts ever, the gift of a longer life! What you are giving up is an addiction to a pesticide product. Simple right? One day at a time, it really does go by fast! I wish you all the best! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 87 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,175 Amount Saved: $917.85 Life Gained: Days: 10 Hrs: 15 Mins: 55 Seconds: 20

you have come to the right plac for encouragement! I am 11 days post quit and while I may hardly post, I do read here alot! I have been taking Chantix and have tried many times in the last 20+ years to quit in a variety of different ways. For me the Chantix has worked, I have little or no desire to smoke. For me it came down to making the committment. I'm quitting to save my life. Good Luck!!
