The program I started said, basically, the idea is portion control. Seems to me it says WHAT you eat isn't as important as HOW MUCH of it. You can still go out to eat, but take your time and enjoy the experience (not having to cook it...not having to clean it up!) and listen to your body saying it is full rather than letting an empty plate dictate the end of your meal. They suggest things like asking for the doggie bag when they bring your dinner, put your fork down between bites, etc. etc. They also say try to be the last one to finish (never a problem for me because I'm a slow eater anyway)--so you're not sitting there looking at your leftovers and picking at them more.
I find that not owning a scale is probably a good thing, then I don't obsess about my weight. But I, too, have had days where I've thought I'd rather be an addict than be overweight. But I've come this far...I'm not going to blow that all away in a puff of cancer.
This is a good thread for me, we all quit roughly the same time, and we all started with our weight loss plans around the same time. Let's all lean on each other
