Kayla, It is normal to be nervous about your quit. Take it one day at a time. Are you going to use anything to help you? I am on Chantix and find it very helpful. Ask your doctor, they can probably help with the best method for you. Also, try the preparation tips on the left hand side of this site, they really help to get you started. This site is the best place to come to, there is so much help here. Keep reading the posts, new and old. Hang in there, you can do this. I smoked for 30 years 1-1.5 packs a day and I quit. So can you. Stay close. Good Luck and congratulations on your decision to quit! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 15 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 385 Amount Saved: $75 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 15 Mins: 15 Seconds: 34

Kayla, and Ky woman I think Chantix is the best thing I have tried. For my last quit I tried the patch and wellbutrin, but I didn't stay on either one long enough and I started smoking again. At least that's my story and I'm stickin' to it. I also didn't have the support I have found on this site, and I believe that makes a big difference also. Seriously, I plan to go through the whole 12 week Chantix program and I will not be ashamed to ask for another 12 weeks if I need it. (I don't think I will). Yes, every quit is different, but so far I haven't had any side effect from the medication, and I haven't suffered any withdrawal symptom that someone else hasn't already posted about. Everything is normal. Don't be nervous, Kayla. It isn't nearly as bad as you imagine it will be. It's not an easy thing, but as so many others have said, if I can do it after 42 years of 2+ packs per day, so can you but you really have to want to quit. Have your goodie bag nearby, and have a plan for when the craves come. Hopefully you won't have many...I didn't after the first few days. It's been much easier than I had imagined, because I have a great imagination and figured I would be climbing the walls, barking at everyone, and generally just being a B. Happy to say that it hasn't been the case...but I guess that depends on who you ask. LOL. You will have your moments, and bad days, but smoking won't make it any better. We like to blame our bad days on our quit, but we also had bad days as smokers, and I know the bad days will always be around. Sometimes it's just a bad day...got to accept them. Read all that you can on this site, and post to let us know how you're doing. Have a few laughs while you're here, we're good for that :) We'll take care of you. Ky, Be patient and don't be too hard on yourself. Give the Chantix a chance to work and it will help. Keep practicing smoking less until your quit date. As we all know, practice makes perfect! Danielle _______________________ The SSC Support Team
