Congratulations on your Day 2. This quit is my first time trying the site, and also the first time my quit has lasted to Day 21. So it must be a wonderful place. I didn't even plan to quit till I happened to this one day and it all just kinda happened. Now, I am a former smoker who thought I would always be a smoker, and proving myself wrong. I know you can do it too. :) Welcome Lainey They are a drug! And indeed a very powerful one! I was addicted to them for many years and couldn't quit. I had them imprinted in my mind. Then one day I found these magic words 'cigs are a drug to which I'm addicted'. I was admitting to be ADDICTED. As simple as that and here I am at my day 31! Stay well and and congratulation for your day 2. There is never a good time to quit. Life usually isn't considerate that way. Welcome. Keep close. True True Imallclear...If I had a penny everytime I said "i'll quit after....(insert task here)"...I'd be rich!!! Lainey: stick with it and see how far you can get...It has been my philosophy ...now it's addictive I can't smoke now because I want another day on my quit meter. Then the next day comes and I want another day!!! Thanks for all the support guys! I am on day 3 and finding it going good so far. I am trying to keep this thought in mind "I am doing my own "intervention" because I want to live." It is so great to be able to talk about ir here, rather than friends & family giving me the gears (Are you still smokig? Didn't you quit before?) It is something that only other smokers can understand! Thanks again! Hello everyone! I was here back in October, when I tried to quit (for the 700th time, it feels like) I did not do very well then, only made it a week, I was terribly stressed and that seems to be the common denominator for me.So have spent the last four & a half months smoking and wishing I could quit again so I could feel better. Finally the time has come. I find I really have to have my head in the right place to do this. I quit yesterday am, and so far am doing okay, just wanting to munch a little more than usual. Am on the patch, and plan this time to double the time on each step as to gove me extra time to get used to the lower dose of nicotine. I have had trouble in the past when I finally get off the paych so am trying to plan ahead. I find it so wonderful to have a place to come and share the experiences. The other night I watched "Intervention" about drug addictions etc, and it was particularily motivating (as cigs are a drug too).Am looking forward to coming on site, to read up and chat with you all. Glad to be back! Lainey - Congratulations on quitting and being on your 2nd day as a non-smoker! I was on this site last April ('06), but relapsed after just over a week. Now I'm back and proudly on Day #12. This time you & I are really doing it!
