Thanks! I'll try anything at this point. I really want to stay a non-smoker! My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/26/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 48 Amount Saved: $10 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 4 Mins: 14 Seconds: 49

Well, this is day two and I really wanted a smoke this morning! I didn't buy any, but the urge was really strong. I am using the patch, but it is making my muscle in that arm really sore. Anyone have any tricks to get through that morning craving? I was really close to messing up. I do not want to fall back into the same cycle I always do when I try to quit. The third day is usually the day I give in. I refuse to accept that this time. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks, I'm going to try changing my morning routine, the worst time is in the car on the way to work. I can't really change that, but I'll try bringing a straw to chew on or something. I am moving my patch to a different spot, but someone told me the milligrams might be to high. They are 21mg, and I usually smoke a pack a day. I bought the ones that the box said I should? Thanks for all the support, really appreciated! DJ you said: "I refuse to accept that this time" THATS THE KEY! (it worked for me and it will work for you). you just can`t belive how good life is without the need for this drugs, for this stink, for this worry of getting sick. first week is a bit hard but after that it gets really easy. oh yeah... tricks! try this it worked for me. i used cinnamon sticks (it lets you put somthing in your mouth with some taste to it and also somthing for your fingers to play with). not sure if its safe or not but im still alive.(safer than smoking thats for sure). I started taking a 'roadie' cup of tea, or a bottle of water with me in the car. When the crave hit, I sipped. Worked for me, I don't need it anymore. I changed my morning routine a bit too. Now I love my mornings. I actually have time to watch or read the news while drinking my coffee. I also spend more time on my appearance. :) Keep us posted on what you are doing! DJ, I just posted on a thread from yesterday asking you how you're doing today. I wish I had seen this one first. Are you chugging back lots of water? I do mean a whole lot of water....as much as you can hold. You really need to do that to flush your system and help with each craving. For those first days of my quit, I had to steer away from coffee because it triggered me to want a cigarette. Are you still drinking coffee in the mornings? It may help you to avoid caffeine during those first few days. Slow, deep breathing with each crave and remember, keep your faith. Get mad at that craving too. Literally fuss at it. You know who's using that craving to tempt you. Chew him out and tell him to back off in Christ's name. Keep talking to us and reading. You WILL get through this. Remember your arsenal. DJ This will sound abit odd to you, but I have found that wearing a stop watch helps me alot...When a crave hits you start the watch and when it is gone stop the watch...You will soon learn that the craves are a lot shorter induration than you perception is telling you. This will help you understand patterns and assure you that you can wait that 3 or 4 minutes that the crave is on you...Remember, who ever controls the time, controls the mind...Any one who does interrogation will tell you that if you leave someone in an anxious state without access to time, their resolve will fold like a cheap suit... Use everything you are able to get your hands on to defeat this thing...You are doing the best thing for yourself that you could possibly do... nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 65 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,575 Amount Saved: $455 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 4 Mins: 44 Seconds: 36
