Congrats Sparkey on having a fun & smoke-free weekend. Isn't it nice to be able to go about life without worrying where my pack of cigs or lighter is? Or if I can or cannot smoke here or there? Or how long am I going to have to wait until I can light up? To be free of all of that so I can just turn my attention to enjoying life "in the moment" is a godsend! Congrats! We're proud of you!! :) Ericon My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/30/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 8 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 298 Amount Saved: $58 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 22 Mins: 58 Seconds: 47

Sparky, You're already on the right track! You've identified a situation in which you would be at high risk for a slip. That's the first step. You've got some great coping mechanisms lined up! Perhaps reciting a mantra like NOPE (Not One Puff Ever) or SINTA (Smoking Is Not The Answer) would help should cravings reach an all time high. You could also bring gum, hard candy or a bottle of really cold water to help keep your mouth busy. Most importantly, have a reward planned! If you get through this situation and handle it well without smoking, you get...? Make sure it something you value more than smoking. Keep us posted, Danielle _______________________ The SSC Support Team

Good morning everyone. Well I have the chance to begin my day smoke free. I can not begin to tell how wonderful that feels. I had a busy week-end. We had two family gatherings, so ate a lot, but that is okay I will deal with that this week. We went for lots of walks and garage sales. It was nice to leave the house with only my sunglasses and not one cig!!! I did treat myself to a gormet coffee -carmel turtle ;p After I ordered it, I asked the girl how many calories. She asked if I really wanted to know. 480 calories!!!!! That treat will be far and few between. But it was so good. Everyone stay safe and smoke free. Thanks for the replies. I do not make light of this stop. I have tried so many time before, that I sorta know what is going to happen down the road if I am not pepared this time. This is the first time I have tried cold turkey. Ususally the the thought would scare me to death, but nothing seem to work in the past so I thought what do I have to lose? The first couple days were okay, not easy, but okay. In the past it was days 8,9 & 10 around day 27 & 28 that would do me in. So I am trying one day at a time and perparing for the monster. Simple, sometimes and somtimes not. I am only human and trying my best to stay smoke free today. How can I lose with winners like you wonderful people. Thanks.
