Panic attacks and exercise

Me too! lol

In my experience with practice and continued effort you can control panic attacks. I am working on the program as a refresher as I have had a bit of a relapse. Anxiety can really suck but I know I can manage it because I have manged it before.

Hello!
I am really surprised your doctor just cut you off and didn't wean you off. I have had panic attacks basically my whole life. I find deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation and this program helpful. I often remind myself that panic attacks cannot hurt you. That the worst part is the fear. Also, I remind myself that panic attacks don't usually last longer then 20 minutes. I take deep breaths and keep telling myself it will pass. I think when I didn't give my panic attacks so much power I started having them less. Panic attacks won't hurt you. You can learn to control them!

Tulip22,
I have started doing the breathing techniques and they seem to work. I wish is could get hypnotized and forget that i ever got them. I am hoping that i can deal with this and the frequency will ne less over time.

Thanks for the info

Kittycat1234,

I quit lexipro cold turkey. My Dr didn't refill my prescription and i had no choice. I have had dizziness and a little nausea bit it's only been a week. Looking at some of these posts the worst is yet to come. I have started the program and i plan to finish it. I jist don't want the panic attacks to come back.

Hi!

I've had panic attacks when driving. They are so scary. This program has been teaching me a lot. A lot of it has to do with practice and slowly becoming accustom to whatever makes you panic. Also working on changing how u view things. I really recommend getting started. I have to push myself but whenever I complete a session I feel good about it. I am planning to come off meds too but I want to complete the program first. I feel like it will be easier that way. DId you already start coming off lexipro?

My first panic attack was about 5 years ago. I was exercising and got my heart rate up too high and i felt like i was having a heart attack. Did stress tests on my heart and was cleared. Everytime after that episode when i exercised i panicked and again had a panic attack. I associate exercise with the panic attacks and therefore i am scared to exercise. Been on lexipro for 4 years and i am trying to quit because i want to conquer this on my own. Withdrawals are awful but i am determined to be drug free. I want to exercise without having an attack. Any suggestions?
