It is sometimes thought that depression is an inevitable part of the aging process, this is just not true. It is true however that later in life one may be faced with changes like children moving away, retirement, and the passing of close friends. Though these examples may lead to depression they don't necessarily have to.
By knowing the some of the signs (e.g., weakness, sadness,difficulty concentrating) an older aged individual can combat depression. When faced with some of the early signs, some strategies to combat depression are, participate in activity both mental and physical, connect with loved ones or meeting new friends/contacts, get quality sleep, and maintain a healthy diet. Making an appointment with a physician is always a good idea as well.
Depression does not have to be part of the aging process and their are ways to deal with it early on should depression symptoms arise
