I don't think that sounds corny to me! Then again, I can likely be accused of being corny occasionally ...so my corny detecting skills might be off

Being accountable is a big component to behaviour change in general; so if coming here works in that department - fantastic.  You being here, continually checking in, sharing your thoughts is of such great value to this site. Not only do I see how you help other members but I personally always enjoy hearing your input - even when your keeping me on my toes

There IS a way out. Hopefully more members will start posting soon so we can help them find it!

That's a really good question Ashley...  I've not thought about my motivation much.  I've been on this path for a really long time.  Initially I wasn't going for healthier and happier... I was just trying to survive... trying to function as a good parent and grandparent so that my charges would not suffer because of my mental health "issues."

The kids are grown and the grands are no longer in my full-time care... yet, here I am still working toward healthier and happier.  Happily working toward healthier and happier.  It's actually kind of an exciting time for me...  My motivation for continuing... well, it's totally corny, but I guess I keep at it because I want to be the best I can be?

I also keep working at it because with my history I know that working toward health keeps me from sliding too far back into the utter despair of my depression.  Coming here helps me stay focused and on track... being a member means I'm held accountable not only for myself but also for and to other members... especially newbies... I really want them to know there is hope... there IS a way out.

Can I have more than one motivation?
Wow.  I didn't know I had any...
Who knew?

Sometimes it takes the opinion or view of another to clarify your reasons and make sense of it all.  The important concept is that you are working towards a healthier and happier lifestyle.

Take the time to refocus on your motivation.  What made you chose this path? What keeps you pushing forward?  How are you able to keep this momentum? What helped you make this choice?

By sharing, you may have just helped another find the motivation they were looking for and this makes it all worthwhile.
