kind of preaching to the choir here... I just wish the rest of society better understood the dynamics of mental illness .  It is hard not to feel flawed in character when ppl around you believe you are willfully so.

You are absolutely true. In the past I thought my problems with depression and anxiety were a trace of my personality and not an illness. Now I see how wrong I was.

Myth: Mental illness is a character flaw and if they really try, people can pull themselves together.

Fact: mental illness is just that – an illness! It has nothing to do with being weak or lacking willpower.
