Myth or Fact?

Members,

Myth: Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), or previously called "electroshock," is painful and barbaric.
Fact: ECT is used treat severe depression when no other treatment has helped.  It can also be used to treat mania and catatonia.  Today ECT patients are anesthetized and no pain is felt.
