I went with the kids to see Zachary Richard (from Louisianna) at an open-air concert and there was a small fireworks display.
Canada day is always problematic here in Montreal Qc. Most festivities are calm and familiale but there is always a bunch of rabble-rousers (on both sides of the constitutional debats) that bring out the police in full force for a week. The traditional St-Jean-Baptist (june 24th) is the provincial brou-ha-ha over here!
Congratulations! I don't really know much about Canadian history but have always thought of your country as a sister to ours. I understand not everyone feels that way but I consider you that way. My boss is from Canada and is going to move back to his "hometown" of Toronto. (He was born in Egypt but moved there at age 3, so it's home) I wish I could move with him. He and his family are wonderful, his wife is lovely and children are beautiful. I'll miss them greatly. I've always felt a neighborly sentiment toward your country and I think my boss and his family make me feel a kinship for it. It is a beautiful country that I'd like to visit more often.
So all of you who are Canadian - Have a wonderful holiday! I don't know if your celebrations are like ours for the fourth of July but whatever you do to celebrate HAVE FUN!!
