007 Quitters, check in please :)

Hi all 007 Quitters and welcome Newcomers as well. Today is day 16 for me. These past two weeks have gone by it seems too slow. The good thing; craves are farther apart. I manage them by sticking "something" in my mouth besides a cigarett. I am sleeping soooo much better these past two weeks. Yes, I am having dreams...but they are contributing to the wonderful feeling of being rested when I wake up. Since I am not employed presently, I have a lot of time on my hands that normaly would have been spent smoking. Actually, I smoked doing "everything anyway". I had a doctor once tell me I needed to slow down and smell the roses. So, these past two weeks...I have! I read a book, I love to read...but don't usually take the time. To many important tasks to perform. Ha...I haven't wanted to do any tasks period these past two weeks. "I have stayed pretty close to this SSC site though...thank you all!! I've begun taking more of an interest in cooking again too. My husband is loving this, he usually does about 50-75% of the coooking. Baking bread and making homemade candy and his favorite Lemon meringue pie. I finally perfected it too...yey!! My brain is in some kind of slow tunnel...waiting for something to happen. Nicodemon is round the corner waiting for his chance...and I do not want to ever let him back in my life again. I know what I need to do, and that is to get active, but I just can't seem to get going. I really enjoyed reading my book though. Have another one lined up too...we are having some cold weather here and I don't really want to take a walk. Agggh..(quit whining deb)... take care all... Afraid to Try, Afraid to Keep Smoking

Welcome Mary, you're at the right site for support one way or the other. A 56 yr-old Grandmother who smoked for 30 plus years, quit once using Cold-turkey method (stayed quit for 10 years, went back like a fool during a divorce and difficult menopause period). Tried everything out there to quit except Laser, with no success for the last 5 or 6 years until I was introduced to Chantix (recommended by my daughter). It's working for me. We hope you'll sign up using the tools on your left and post often. You will find education, support, and a place to vent if you need to. good luck...auntdeb My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 15 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 736 Amount Saved: $73.05 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 3 Mins: 44 Seconds: 26

Starting Tonight!

mrmagic, no insurance coverage for me either, but...I spent more on cigaretts anyway...I followed directions and continued to smoke for the first week. I was really worried about my morning coffee time, but found that the smoke didn't quite seem as satisfying now. I could actually have my coffee without craving the smoke. Use your first week to get educated on how to deal with non-smoking. Read everything you can and sign up on this site and go through the exercises it suggests as you smoke your first week. (The other site doesn't come close to what you will learn here at SSC) KEEP CLOSE TO US, we'll help you get through this and "Kick Butt"!! Read the postings, and become a strong non-smoker as you will be able to help others pretty soon too....welcome auntdeb My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 15 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 736 Amount Saved: $73.05 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 3 Mins: 47 Seconds: 29

Screwed up on my first day!

Smoked1, Hang in there guy. You realize your girl is feeling guilty? (Sure she is, the same way my husband feels) They want to quit...but we "cannot choose for them".It has to be their decision... when... "it's Their Time to Quit". Be thankful she is smoking outside "for you", I know I am thankful that my husband goes outside. As I lay in bed next to my man at night, I hear him wheezing and struggling for air (he was diagnosed with Emphysema 14 years ago and had a Quad-Bi-Pass on his heart 10 yrs ago). He tells me that he can quit anytime (as long as it's his idea). I'm still waiting for him to quit, but decided that "It is my time NOW"!! :eg: NOPE AUNTDEB My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 17 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 824 Amount Saved: $82.79 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 9 Mins: 57 Seconds: 42

Hey Gang...007 Quitters How are we feeling?

Dottie, I know of at least 8 people on the Chantix here at the site (myself included) I had a cold before I started the Chantix, and on my very first smokless day I came down with some kind of 24-hr Bug with (both ends being very busy..ha ha)however the local news didn't say anything about Chantix being the culprit. I am actually glad that I had the cold too...it helped me cough up more gunk buried down deep. The Chantix is an excellent product I think. check out some of the posts and you'll get some more feed back on the Chantix. Welcome to the Quit!!auntdeb :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 17 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 824 Amount Saved: $82.79 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 10 Mins: 1 Seconds: 10

Women who smoked during pregnancies and are now quit....

Hi All, Wanted to add just a little more input here for everyone in regard to nicotine and pregnancy (as I too...smoked with all three of my babies) Did you know that CHILDREN WITH THE ATTENTION DEFICT DISORDERS can be calmed down with a nicotine patch? or a drag off of a cigarett? I'm not encouraging anyone to give their child a cigarett, but warning any new "going to be MommY"...QUIT NOW ...SMOKING IS NOT AN OPTION My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 17 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 819 Amount Saved: $82.79 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 9 Mins: 32 Seconds: 22
