Need to move forward

Lance,

To do exposure therapy for driving you can use these steps:

1) Visualize yourself sitting in the car, starting it, driving it, coming home safely.
2) Actually sit in the car, start it, drive it out of the driveway only and increase the distances progressively.

You can also ask your therapist for exposure ideas for driving. We are here for you through these times.

anger during anxiety

kittcat,

Do find what works to calm yourself down, and use these techniques when you experience irritability and anger.
You may want to try relaxation techniques and adopt them into your routine. Here is a simple breathing exercise that you can try when you are feeling irritable. With shoulders back and tummy in, inhale deeply for a slow count of five, exhale for a slow count of five. Do five of these at a time. You can do this exercise anywhere and at anytime.

Members, what works to help calm yourself down?

Rebuilding Your Self-Esteem

Members,

Has an illness, addiction or other left your self-esteem in the gutter? In the weeks to come, we will be exploring various strategies to help rebuild your self-esteem:

What is self-esteem?

The level of self-esteem you have is gained via reactions important people have had to you throughout your life. Starting off with your parents, it is further shaped by your siblings, superiors, friends and significant others. One primary factor in the development of self-esteem involved the positive or negative reinforcement or messages you receive from these people.

Before we can begin rebuilding, we encourage you to take make a list of the people in your life who have played an important role in your life. Were they supportive or negative forces in your life? What did they do for your self-esteem?

How my first day back to work went......

Leanna,

Thank you for sharing your story. It is great to hear that you've "broke down a wall", and you have realized that this will get easier with each day. It must have felt nice knowing that your coworkers understood and respected your needs. Check in to let us know how things go the rest of the week, and if you have any questions.

New to this.

Hi Stephen,

Welcome to our online support community and thank you for sharing your story with us. There are many people within this support group that share the same questions and concerns as you.  We are all a group of individuals who support each other.

We also have developed a Panic Program.  This program is 12-weeks and involves the tools mentioned above.  Each session is based on the previous session, so we strongly advise that you work slowly through the program and not jump ahead.

These tests may or may not be for you but they are "free".  If you have any question or concerns with our “TOOLS”, you can contact us at support@paniccenter.net.  We are the Support Specialist for The Panic Center and are open to any questions or concerns you may have.

Please continue to strive forward and lean on us for support.

Hoping this program helps...really afraid

Hi Kristina,

Welcome to our online community and thank you for sharing your story with us. There are many people within this support group that share the same questions and concerns as you.  We are all a group of individuals who support each other.

If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find many supportive tests.  These tests are not diagnostic tools and are not a replacement or substitute for a physician's advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor.

We also have developed a Panic Program.  This program is 12-weeks and involves the tools mentioned above.  Each session is based on the previous session, so we strongly advise that you work slowly through the program and not jump ahead.
