Weekend Prep

In your situation you might want to use the Symptom Tracker to identify the hour when you’re feeling the most anxious. As it’s not pleasant to feel anxious, identify the hour you were most anxious and make sure to describe what you were doing, how you were feeling and who you were with in the “notes” area. Likewise, identify the hour in which you were least anxious and make sure to describe what you were doing, how you were feeling and who you were with in the other “notes” area. You’ll find that after doing this for a few weeks you’ll begin to get a very clear picture about what you’re experiencing.

Myth or Fact

Myth: If I lose control during anxiety attacks, would it lead to paralysis?
Fact: Some people during a panic attack believe they are going to "lose control." Presumably, they mean that they would either become totally paralyzed or not be able to move, or that they would not know what they are doing.

Hi Leanna,

Thank you for sharing with us. As JGD said, regarding they symptoms you are experiencing it may be advisible to see a doctor. Once that is clear you can focus on working on your panic. Have you had the chance to work through the online program yet? The online program will provide you with exercises to help you with the panic. It must be difficult, considering this is beginning to get in the way of your work. Make a game plan and begin to take control. As always, we are here to support you!

Rebuilding Your Self-Esteem

Members,

Has an illness, addiction or other left your self-esteem in the gutter? In the weeks to come, we will be exploring various strategies to help rebuild your self-esteem:

   ·         Make a list of all your successes and read it everyday.

    ·         Surround yourself with positive, supportive people. You are who you hang around with.

    ·         Pick a mantra and repeat to yourself every morning and in times of self-doubt

    ·         If you’re struggling in an academic or work-related situation, ask for help! Or do some research; attend a seminar or workshop to increase your competence.

    ·         Seek outside help like a counselor, support group or peer mentor.

Please add your thoughts on rebuilding your self-esteem! More tips to come next week!

Thanks for sharing with us. That sounds very painful and irritating. Are there ways of controlling this syndrome?
Members, has anyone else experienced burning mouth syndrome? How have you dealt with this? What treatment options were presented to you?

Panic in crowds

Hi princesspat,

Welcome to our online support community and thank you for sharing your story with us. As Davit mentioned, if you do a search in the forums you will find discussions on the topic of agoraphobia. Furthermore, the online program will be an excellent tool to find out more about this topic as well as learn strategies to overcome this.

If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find many supportive tests.  These tests are not diagnostic tools and are not a replacement or substitute for a physician's advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor.

We also have developed a Panic Program.  This program is 12-weeks and involves the tools mentioned above.  Each session is based on the previous session, so we strongly advise that you work slowly through the program and not jump ahead.

These tests may or may not be for you but they are "free".  If you have any question or concerns with our “TOOLS”, you can contact us at support@paniccenter.net.  We are the Support Specialist for The Panic Center and are open to any questions or concerns you may have.

Please continue to strive forward and lean on us for support.

Need Advice

Hi lisamarie,

Legal matters can be quite tricky. You may want to seek assistance from a lawyer or legal aid in order to decide what the best option for you is in this situation. Hopefully things will work out in your interest and you will find justice
