Members,
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) occurs when anxiety manifests itself through persistent and uncontrollable thoughts (obsessions) or by the compelling need to perform one or more actions repeatedly (compulsion). Compulsions are usually related to the obsessive thoughts that individuals possess.
Obsessions tend to focus on:
- Fears (such as being contaminated by germs)
- Doubts (such as forgetting to lock the door)
- Impulses (such as hurting oneself or others).
Compulsions consist of actions such as:
- Cleaning
- Checking
- Actions that prevent impulses from occurring

Diva,
If you are feeling down, it can be helpfull to make a list of everything that makes you feel happy, or projects that you would like to accomplish that are out of your daily routine. This could help by giving you something to look forward to, and also giving you a sense of accomplishment.

kittcat6166,
Here are a few tips that may be helpful during your trip. It's very important to be well rested before, during and after your trip. It's also important to eat well, exercise and to keep in touch with your family. Establishing rituals can also help prevent and reduce stress by saving time. It can be a comfort factor in times of stress, when predictability and certainty reassure us that no matter how bad conditions get, some things remain constant.
Members, please share tips and strategies that have worked for you.

Specific phobias are when a highly focused fear occurs with a specific object or situation. To avoid this anxiety producing object or situation, an individual may significantly disrupt their normal routine; they may avoid going to work or school or travelling if there is a slight chance that the will encounter the object of fear.
Specific phobias usually revolve around four categories:
1 €“ Animals (insects, snakes, dogs, etc)
2 €“ Natural environments (storms, heights, water, etc)
3 €“ Blood/injections/injuries (the sight of blood or even the thought of an injection)
4 €“ Specific situation (public transit, the dentist, flying, etc.)
