Third quit....off to a rocky start

Hi all....well, this will be my third quit. I quit for my pregnancy back in 94/95 and stayed quit for just about a year. Then I quit back in 99 when I got pregnant again, but started right back up after we lost the baby at 5 months. Now I am ready again. I started taking Chantix 11 days ago, and my last cig was last night. It's almost 12:30pm now and I still haven't had one. BUT I still have a pack and a half in the house, under the care of my son who is adamant about my quitting. He is to keep track of how many I have, if any. I'm starting a brand new job next Friday and want to be smoke free by then. (I've always hated being one of those smokers that went out back on every break) I'm drinking my crystal light, water, eating healthy snacks, and trying my best to stay busy. This is rough though. I don't crave as often as I would as a cold turkey quit, and the cigs taste nasty to me now, but I'm hoping to get past all the ickyness. My hubby is going to start his Chantix either today or tomorrow. I made it clear to him that I may not stay quit unless he quits too. And he says he's ready, so we'll see. Wish me luck! I'm on dial up, but part of the money we save will go towards DSL in a couple months!!

For those of us who have quit in August ...

Yay!!! I'm an AuGUSTO too!!! Not one slip-up, and since starting Chantix....the smell of smoke makes me sick to my stomach! I can SMELL again too! It's like I've been walking around with a plugged nose the last 12 years! I've been on it almost 4 weeks now and going to start weaning off in a week or two. I just started a new job and I'm not around a bunch of smokers all day. So it should be OK. It's the driving my car that makes me crave......something. I think it's just that I need something in my hand while I drive, so I now hold a straw while I drive and it works. I do get cravings, but its weird, because I don't necessarily crave a cig. I just CRAVE SOMETHING. Go figure. Now I just need hubby to quit! Luckily we have never smoked in our house, so I think that's easier on me. Thanks to you all for being here! Third quit....off to a rocky start

24 days and going strong. Weaning off the Chantix now. My insurance runs out in October, so I need to wean off of it now. I can go 3 days without a pill, so I think it'll be OK now. Hubby is still smoking, but he won't smoke in my car and he still smokes outside. He is also making sure he washes his hands and face at night after his last one before bed. I just wish he'd quit. I refuse to push him into it, since no one pushed me. I want him to quit when he's ready. At the new job I only know of one smoker, but the part-timers haven't started yet, so we'll see how it goes. We're opening up a new Kohls store, and it's VERY stressful. I almost broke down in tears today a few times because the stress got to me and I don't smoke anymore. It's tough, but I'm beating it! Thanks to you all for your support! I read a lot here, I just don't post a whole lot. My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/2/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 24 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 480 Amount Saved: $75.84 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 20 Mins: 58 Seconds: 47
