Day One

Today is my first day of not smoking! I am a 46 year old woman who has smoked since the age of 22. I did quit for four years from 2001-2005. Real stupid to start back! I didn't want to even get out of bed this morning, knowing it was my quit date. I am taking Chantix and I am suprised at how easy today has been. I would definitely recommend the drug. I have read a lot of the posts and they are very inspiring. Just wanted to introduce myself! I know I have struggles ahead and I am trying to prepare myself.

Day One

So nice to hear from everyone! It's a lot of support actually just knowing that other people are going through a lot of the same things. I'm rooting for all of you. Today is my second day and I feel better already. Want2befree, are you still taking Chantix and if so, how long are you going to take it? I noticed you have been quit for 85 days. Congrats! How are you doing now? Day One

Thanks Cindy! Thanks for all the support. I don't know why this is so easy for me so far - only my third day. I am kinda holding my breath, waiting for the cravings- So far very low cravings. Right now I feel excited, like anything is possible! Love you too! day 4, i need funny stories

I didn't realize until last night that I could pop a bag of popcorn in the microwave without stepping outside to have a cigarette! But I did it! Felt pretty weird though. Hang in there! Calling Closet Smokers

I was a sort of "closet smoker". I never smoked in the house, car, or when I went places. I always smoked in a little corner in my backyard. I smoked a few cigs before work and none until I got home. Somehow managed to smoke a pack or more a day. No one but my immediate family and close friends knew I smoked. But who did I think I was fooling? I constantly brushed my teeth, washed my hands, sprayed perfume. One time my neighbor told me she could smell me smoking when the wind was blowing the right way! Busted! Day One

WOW 134 days! That's awesome. Can't wait until I can say that. Today is my 4th day- one thing that has been easier is that I haven't been around any people! LOL. My son is 17 and gone most of the time and my husband has been traveling with his job. I pick him up at the airport tomorrow, so back to the real world for me. I printed out my emergency coping plan and I am going to keep it in my purse. Congrats on your 134 days! Cal773 - Congrats! That is so wonderful! I am also taking Chantix and I am calling it a miracle pill. This site is also great - It really makes me feel stronger knowing that tons of people are going through the same thing. Way 2 go!!! Day One

Congrats on your 134 days. That's really, really awesome, especially after 50 years. My dad has been a heavy smoker for over 50 years. He won't quit because he says that everyone he knows that quits dies. That's his story and I guess he's sticking with it. I am using Chantix. Been like a miracle actually! Only thing is that I am not sleeping well at night. But that's OK. Gives me more time to read or crochet! Even though I don't know you, I am so proud of your accomplishment! HI everyone!!

Welcome and congrats on making the decision and date. Plan on doing some good things for yourself the first few days. This site really helped me with all the coping plans and support from other people. It's hard, but what a wonderful feeling you will have about yourself!
