Into day 5 - chest feels heavy....

It's nice to meet you too Sam. I come here often for my distractions and it sure helps me a lot:) Mornings were tough for me too, so the first few days I went right out the door to walk the dog, or brought my coffee to this site. Yes, that's me around 1963. (I'm 46 now:) It was an after Christmas party at our home in WI, and some friends of the family just got a brand new reel-to-reel camera! Must have been in to try to kiss them in those days;) Well have a great night! It really does get better each day. I'll be spending the extra time I'm saving back here in the morning:) mamakitty My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 17 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 255 Amount Saved: $68.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 20 Mins: 6 Seconds: 49

idenity crisis?

Alright, I'm really not a toddler. I'm a part time lawyer/jailer/undertaker. (just teasing Tom:) Seriously, this thread hits home with me on many points. I appreciate all the truth and honesty. If my brain weren't so scattered right now I'd share what I'm thinking... so I'll just tell you this, so you know how I'm feeling:) Remember those kinds of moments? (sigh:) Time for a walk... but I'll have many great thoughts to take with me! mk My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 18 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 270 Amount Saved: $72.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 21 Mins: 31 Seconds: 24

Paris and cigarettes

Danielle, I'm mamakitty's #1 fan! I like the planes that do long flights because they have TVs and the seats are comfier and they always have a kid show or two on the TV instead of all adult TV. The trip to Paris is going to be fun. We leave one week from today on Friday! Did you know that bastille day, Their Fourth of July, is when their king was not doin' to good. He was a worried mess, and was not doing anything about it, so, they chopped off his head, and now celebrate this happily bloody holiday! Have a nice day! P.S. I'm never going to smoke!! babykitty My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 18 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 270 Amount Saved: $72.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 21 Mins: 33 Seconds: 26

I've discovered a new way to save money on your energy bills!!! (Oh my God!!!)

Hey EX, Thanks. This is really funny, and so true! I'm not sure how long it lasts but some days are more musical than others. It's pretty handy to have a dog near by:) mk My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 19 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 285 Amount Saved: $76.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 23 Mins: 46 Seconds: 49

I'm so MAD I could smoke!

My 10 year old daughter seems to be going through a new phase of opposing me, and again my husband finds fault with what he says is my inability to deal with conflict - and I know I need to be the adult but dam it I just don't feel like it sometimes. I don't feel understood, I feel hurt, angry, sad and alone... but nothing is happening except a few soft sobs and my eyes are blurry. I'm typing to you guys because you're there, and somebody must know a little bit about how I feel. I'm crying, sipping on some wine, and if it weren't so late I think I'd go get a pack of Basic Lights in a box and stay on the patio with the cat while everyone is asleep and smoke. But I won't. I'll go to bed. I'm so MAD I could smoke!

You guys are making me cry again. My head hurts from that stupid cheap white wine that we cook with. It was all I could find. I'm glad I didn't smoke last night. It's the one good thing I can take pride in this morning. I need to build on that, and I don't think I could do it without you. It's scary to feel vulnerable, and I know more change is ahead. I want to be a great, loving mom. I want to be respectful, and respected... more confident... and I have a long way to go. Thanks for the hugs and great wisdom... I want to write more now but I think I have an opportunity to walk and talk with babykitty. mk My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 21 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 315 Amount Saved: $84.00 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 4 Mins: 57 Seconds: 50

I'm so MAD I could smoke!

Thank you boxerfan, Unhooked, alohakeia, Tom, Sam, Casey, Nilbey and Lainey for your thoughtful words and encouragement. I feel rested, and so much better. Babykitty does too:) You're right about stepping back for a better perspective and getting rest, Tom. We had a great walk and talk. I think my greatest fear has been feeling too deeply and falling apart without that crutch. Well it was painful alohakeia, but I did just learn that I can deal with something tough without a cig! I want to remember that... The first time babykitty was seriously mad at me she was about 3 and called me the worst word she knew. She yelled, "you... PIRATE!!" She's still sweet as pie 99 percent of the time but when I become really uncool and imperfect, may I post you again Unhooked and Nilbey?:) I'm so glad I can choose not to smoke each moment/day. I never thought I could get out of that snare for real. I may not have control over my first thought, but I do over my second thought... I don't want to hurt myself anymore. I want to be here for babykitty, and live a long, healthy, good life with my family. Thanks for being the great people that you are. Love, mk My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 21 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 315 Amount Saved: $84.00 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 5 Mins: 41 Seconds: 30

Quitting Smoking is easy!

John_in_NC, I think it was from a Yahoo message board discussion? (more details on first page of this post) Either way, I think this is very powerful too, and I love your idea for the series of 30 second spots. Would you be able to pull off such a job? Might the American Cancer Society sponsor a work like this? I think it's time to subtly pay back Joe Camel and that Marlboro cowboy... I'd help you if I can. It could also be a series of printed ads to go with a campaign. On rolling credits, you might include quotes from those who have actually died from smoking... just "deceased" after their names? Extremely sad, but could be very powerful for many. Go John Go! mamakitty

I slipped, no excuses...restarting TODAY !

Good morning Sam! (((HUG))) No reasons needed. Mistakes are for learning from:) I'm just glad you popped back so fast and came to share your experience with us. Smoking won't make any situation better, ever. Not even having to deal with a fractured bone!! I'm so sorry you're going through that kind of pain! I hope you'll remember to breathe, rest a lot, be very good to yourself... and watch how you pull yourself through and heal without cigarettes! They have no healing power at all. I wish you peace and great gifts in learning more about your wonderful self;) Maybe drawing or painting could be healing for you now too...? Whatever helps you through. Keep posting when you can:) xxx-ooo mamakitty My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 25 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 375 Amount Saved: $100.00 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 14 Mins: 33 Seconds: 27
