Day four

Thanks Straightflop, I just passed about that amount of time too, and I agree that it does get better each day! The mental gymnastics can be a challenge, but with all the fresh veggies available this time of year - it's been a great time to quit. Mmmm, fresh peas:) And one of my new habits is surfing this site often. I love that: "Remember you are not giving up anything" How true! mk My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 4 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 60 Amount Saved: $14.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 11 Mins: 43 Seconds: 2

Countdown to Weed-FREE!

Hi ImaWriter, Congratulations!! I heard from you on the first day I posted (I stopped smoking June 11) and I just wanted to encourage you too. Today is my 6th day and my cravings or smoking thoughts are considerably less and I feel great! I did the same thing you're doing. I kept myself super busy the first few days, walking, visiting places, just being out (since I work and smoked at home), and it helps. Your positive and determined attitude is wonderful, and I think you might even have a little fun with this eventually too:) In the mornings, I check in here to read a little, and find support. In the evenings, I bring a big bottle of water with me to where ever I'm going to relax and drink it before bed. (I have to get up and pee during the night, but it helps with the wanting a bedtime ciggy) I'm still keeping busy, but I'm not as afraid as I was at first. I also signed up for a once a week stretching class. It's only a half hour, and helps me be more aware of my body and breathing. When I smoked, I avoided excersise along with a lot of other things that I feel more free to do now! Have fun at the garage sale! Thinking of you... mamakitty My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 75 Amount Saved: $17.50 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 13 Mins: 28 Seconds: 5

Paris and cigarettes

My family is going to Paris in early July, and we'll have a great apartment with an open rooftop to spend time on... I keep thinking about what a perfect place it would be to have private smokes! I'm really afraid of slipping then... May I please have some advice in advance so I can pack my mental suitcase? mk My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 75 Amount Saved: $17.50 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 13 Mins: 52 Seconds: 17

1 Week +

Yay - a whole week! I'll be there soon too, and have had similar experience. My cravings are farther in between, and it's much better after the 3-4 day mark. The people on this site are amazing. Including you:) mamakitty My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 75 Amount Saved: $17.50 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 13 Mins: 58 Seconds: 14

Paris and cigarettes

Mare-C-bow-coop:) My French is damaged, since last time I tried to ask where the restroom was at Le Bon Marche' (for our marching little daughter, holding her crotch with one hand) the woman behind the counter started dishing up sauteed mushrooms for me. Now, it's just as fun for me to listen, smile, and keep the correct change for the toilets handy:) I love all these ideas. Thanks! I never thought of arguing with myself from a nonsmoker's veiwpoint, or sticking the money away that I save for a pretty Parisian reward! I like that... museums, and walking a lot. Maybe I'll get brave and go explore near the apartment when I get panicky there, and print out these and all my favorite posts to read on the rooftop. Boy, change is hard. I know that nobody likes change except maybe a wet baby; but it seems like that is the most difficult right now. Making these huge changes in my thinking and actions and dreams... Sometimes I feel like I'm losing my "self" and even my ability to work as well as I used to. (That's what always made me go back to it in past attempts. I felt like I needed it to function properly) But now, I think I know better. I just have to be patient, and re-fill myself with all the right stuff. Distraction seems to be where it's at for me lately. Can't believe I'm cleaning out things in the house that have sat where they shouldn't be for years! Feels good... Maybe I'll try to design some frenchie looking book marks for my journal that say "Nope" or "HALT" to remind me of Danielle and Sparky's support:) Thanks Ladies, I appreciate you all more than you know... mk PS Found some little binoculars in one of my piles alohakeia! In the suitcase they go:) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 90 Amount Saved: $21.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 16 Mins: 25 Seconds: 48

That would be fun Anna! In a way I will be taking you along, because I plan on printing all these posts and packing them to read for support when I'm there:) It helps to hear that you have felt these things too Gen, and that you don't feel that way now. I'm trying to fill my mind with lots of info and truth, which gives me hope. I do feel much more positive today, and I'm actually looking forward to not having to hunt for spots to smoke before, during and after airports! Have a great trip in August!! Good night all, MK PS Danielle, my 10 yr. old daughter knows I come to this site and read some of your notes along with me this morning. She sees me typing again, so gave me a hug and said "thanks for quitting smoking mom. Can you tell that lady Danielle I say hi?:)" I hope my struggles and triumphs make a big difference in her future... 22 weeks pregnant...help?

Hi Babymakes3, I'm new too, and I wanted to share that I remember finding places to hide and smoke all the way through my pregnancy 10 yrs. ago. I was so scared when I had labor pains that I ran outside to smoke inbetween until I couldn't anymore! I felt terribly guilty and out of control, and kept it all inside. Now, that baby is one of my best support buddies:) I'm so happy you found this site! I just wanted to tell you that you are not alone. I hope these days are going well for you... Daily walks makes delivery easier:) MK My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 105 Amount Saved: $24.50 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 19 Mins: 37 Seconds: 51

Thanks! It feels so good to be past a week... and be able to check in with you each day. "The most educated smoke addiction therapists in the entire world!" Thanks for my shot in the arm today:) Have a great day! mk PS Phil, were those the brightly colored skinny cigarettes in the fancy metal tin? My brother and I tried those in high school. Cool looking, but kind of the tobasco of cigarettes:) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 8 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 120 Amount Saved: $28.00 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 21 Mins: 14 Seconds: 12
