May Company - Check In

Lot's of May Company members are hitting or already past their 100 days, and feeling really, really good. I'll be bringing up the rear in less than 3 weeks, and then we'll all be safely checked onto the Beach for a rest and relax. I haven't been able to post much, but I am checking in, and seeing everyone's amazing journies. How are you doing? Thinking about slipping? aka... 6 month ramble

BFS - thanks for bumping this post. I can really relate to everything you said. Imagine that your 1 day slip snowballed like mine did into almost a year - after a 2-1/2 year quit (over 900 days) I blew it too - but for a much longer time. Had I not messed up, I would be at around 1,300 days right now, instead of just 70-something! Blech! You really hit the nail on the head in describing how quitting after a relapse seems even harder than the initial quit. I know the pain, guilt and extreme shame all too well. I honestly felt that making the decision to stop the 2nd time was considerably harder than the 1st - I guess because I knew it had to be for the LAST time. Reality hit when I found this site, 1 day after I quit - when I saw the acronym N.O.P.E - I felt so depressed, and angry, and frustrated. I knew it was true - for real! A rude awakening, but oh, so necessary. I know in my guts I don't have yet another quit left in me - so this one HAS to stick! Thanks again for your post, and for bumping it for the benefit of newer members. sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 78 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,970 Amount Saved: $702 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 16 Mins: 3 Seconds: 12

What happens

I've been off it for about a week and a half. I don't think it's completely out of my system yet, as I'm still experiencing a few mild side effects that came up when I started it. Otherwise, I don't really notice any difference. sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 77 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,941 Amount Saved: $693 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 13 Mins: 17 Seconds: 20

Doesn't RDMan have 6 months today?

Today, tomorrow - doesn't matter - as long as you're celebrating! Congratulations on your 6 months, 180 days, on the road of freedom. Have a great time on the Island - and don't forget your bike helmet! sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 77 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,941 Amount Saved: $693 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 13 Mins: 16 Seconds: 51

LONG STORY AND GOOD BYE

Dear Mr. Duffis - I was just thinking that if I had known about this site over a year ago, around when you quit, I would be up to over 1,300 days quit by now, and holding, and not just the 70-something I'm at now. About 3-1/2 years ago, I quit, and slipped badly after 2-1/2 years. It took about a year to make the decision to quit again - it was much tougher the 2nd time - because I knew it had to be for good. Reading only some of your posts since I've been here, I really think that I might still be on my 1st and only quit if I'd found this site, and your and others' support before now. Thank-you for your eloquent contributions. Take care, sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 76 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,916 Amount Saved: $684 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 10 Mins: 59 Seconds: 23

I almost blew a 300 day quit

Congratulations on resisting. I am a testament to the fact that you must always remain vigilent, and on guard. I lost my 1st quit at 2-1/2 years - over 900 days. It just snuck up on me. This time I know that there is no relaxing, no letting down your guard - no matter now long you've quit for. As long as you keep that thought in your subconscious, you should be okay. Unfortunately, it's the nature of the beast. sushik My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 76 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,917 Amount Saved: $684 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 11 Mins: 2 Seconds: 21

Monday Stats Parade - 14 Aug 06

The weather's changed since RD Man posted this morning. Getting very overcast and dark here in Toronto - hoping for some much-needed rain (I have grass seed that needs tending). I'm getting close to 100 days . . . thank goodness time is going by much faster now.
