4 more days until I quit...am i ready?

Shar, when you quit you will have alot of time on your hands that you used to spend smoking. For me and my DH we are already wondering what to do with all this time. Both of us need to lose at least 50 pounds, so we plan to exercise - perhaps that will help your worry about losing weight if you planned that also!! You CAN do it!!! Sue just broke her 25 year habit! On Day 2

Hi Honey!!! Thank you for telling me about this awesome place. As John said we are on day 2, today was tough, but reading here I got alot of great tips, especially the breathing one, I can do it without wheezing now. Sue (John's Wife)

day 2 - still not smoking

Congrats to you!! It helps me to remember why I quit and the benefits I have noticed so far. I have more stamina, no coughing, I smell good :), last night I blew out a candle first try - instead of 10th try! Stay here, that helps me immensely, and whatever you do - don't smoke! hang tough - you can do this. sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/2/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 9 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 94 Amount Saved: $15.75 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 21 Mins: 21 Seconds: 28

Hi folks...New here...I'm thisclose to quitting...

Hello Minx and Cricket!! This site is awesome support, I only wish DH and I had found it earlier. I am on day 11 of chantix, and when I started I didn't want to quit, I did it because of DH - terrible I know, but by the end of that week I did want to quit. Cigs tasted terrible, they were a pain, no one around me smokes, etc....and I would keep thinking of reasons to quit, not on purpose they would just pop into my head. We are on day 11 now and I rarely think about smoking. It would have helped me more if I changed my triggers sooner though. Try smoking in different places you won't go back to when you quit, change your routines and triggers now and it will help you later. I feel great, you will too. there are some awesome posts in coping with cravings and withdrawal section, in particular one by Rusty, check those out if you need help and check in here, it is that constant reminder we need and the support is amazing. :) Sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/2/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 11 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 114 Amount Saved: $19.25 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 2 Mins: 5 Seconds: 20

So Irritable that I can't stand myself

Delayette, it will pass, for me and Dh it took about 10 days, during most of those days we took my visiting Mum to the beach, where even though 80 degree sunny weather was forecasted we had a nor'easter, 60 mph winds, rain, crappy weather. We were tense. the car ride was the worst. You could cut the tension with a knife. I was dying and wondering how I was going to survive. Poor Mum. the worst was after we picked up the cats, 5 mins from home, my very upset 9 yr old cat poops in his carrier, never done this before, and all of a sudden we get trapped in a construction delay, windows are down we are spraying air fresher in the car, everyone is holding their breathe, it stinks, poor Mum is sitting right beside the carrier, both cats are meowing, my phone rings, DH looks at me and comments - this is a cigarette moment huh? I went home and had a drink. whew. It seemed like that whole 10 days was crap. In retrospect we lost our coping mechanism, cigarettes and had to come up with a new one. Deep breathing really helps, exercise, we walked alot, your sense of smell and taste should be coming back now, and soon you will feel alot better. Today I got a post from this board that I have 30% of my lung function back - now that is happy news. I hope you are doing better. Went to a BBQ today

and it was pretty small, 20 people or so, and there were smokers. You know it didn't phase DH and I at all? I knew the minute they lit up, and it smelled good and familiar, but I had no desire for one. This amazed me. A great time was had by all :) Sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/2/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 17 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 170 Amount Saved: $29.75 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 16 Mins: 58 Seconds: 57

Went to a BBQ today

thanks all!! The next day I ended up in a bar! It was so weird, I was watching a couple drinking and smoking - a fond memory now - and I felt nothing. No desire to smoke, nada. Bizzare huh? (OT)Does anyone know why the new posts are on top instead of bottom now? sue My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/2/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 20 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 200 Amount Saved: $35.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 23 Mins: 34 Seconds: 42

Confession is good for the soul

Pete, I am in NC and never got a mint or ciggie :( Listen, almost every where I go is non-smoking, they are are tyring to pass a bill to make all restaurants non-smoking here also, it is not like you are visualizing anymore imo. You can do this, just hop back on, and move on.
