Hello Malinda.
I hope you're still there.
I didn't take Chanix or anything similar but went 'cold turkey'. I am a little baby 15 dayer. Nothing compared to your six weeks.
I feel really wierd still. Mind is all over the place. I think it is just the withdrawal.
It's so easy to let it get to you. This site is great as a displacement activity and as a diversion and worth reading lots of the stuff on it because something will hit home and make you keep on with your quit.
Good luck. :)

Can't believe I am at day 7.
Yet. A friend just rang to ask if I wanted to go with her to Italy to her new holiay home but instead of thinking 'Oh that's nice' I immediately thought about who else might be going and whether I would be able to smoke.....
Then I remind myself I am a non-smoker and gosh won't that be a breeze. To go anywhere and it not be a problem. But still there is a little voice saying things like:
"Won't that be boring...."
"Will I still be a non-smoker in 4 months......"
"What will I do all day if I can't smoke and I don't have the distractions of work and home......."
Don't all start shouting about how you wish you could be asked to go to Italy. That's not the point.
I'm just letting off steam. The whole thought process is so ingrained and I wonder how long it takes to stop thinking that way.
Hello. Here I am on my new machine. 4 hours and another trip to the store. God did I need a cigarette! But instead I've come straight on here to see how you lot are getting on.
Well done Kev on the counter. Aren't you doing well.
Am off to vote now so see you later.
Jubilant and smoke free.
Gen :)

Dear Mr Ed
Thanks for all of that. I couldn't answer before but have now seen my name on the list and feel so much better!!!
Haven't had a computer till today (from last Friday) except for one quick shot in the public library.
Thanks again.

Just to say I'm with you on all of this. The quit is great - to be quit and to stay that way - but the wieght gain is a real bummer. I've had EXACTLY the same thing as you this week. Clothes that were absolutely fine and - what do you know - they've simply shrunk over the winter.
It's hard because it just seems so unfair since we are being so good at giving up the smoking only to seem to be 'punished' with this extra layer of padding but we must bow graciously to those further down the line than us and in a year's time come back here and be surprised and amazed at how we've lost it all.
See you then.
