Friends are bieng sooooooooooooooo pushy....

I agree with what you are saying completely. My parents both smoke and my hubby and I both quit about 3 weeks ago. Now, everyone we know is telling us, it's our juob to help mom and dad quit. Not a chance. They know we are quitting and if that encourages them then so be it, but I am not going to push them to do it. They have been smoking much longer than us, although I strongly believe that you get to a point where, you know, 10 year smoker or 30 year smoker, quitting is quitting. But that's just me, anyway, I just don't think that it's up to us as new non-smokers (or even old non-smokers) to force those we love to quit. This is a decision each smoker will have to make for themselves. Yipeee....

Well guys, I didn't know where to post this, so here goes. I just wanted to drop a line to say yipeee. I have made it to Day 21 and am definatly feling like I can conquer this nasty little demon. I had a really hard time last weekend, but things are looking much better now. I am a little concerned about next week, though. Both because I am coming up on 30 days and I have to go for day surgery next Wednesday. But, I am sure that I will have no problem when the time comes. After all, I have come this far, right? Well, good luck to you all, keep fighting the good fight, and remember to never give up. Thanks Everyone. Yipeee....

Thanks Tutti....and right back at ya. Sounds like a great thing to pull each other back up. Togather, we can do it with ease. And I am so glad your quit is going well, also. It gives me so much strength to see others doing well. As for the surgery, nothing big, just day surgery. The doctors think I have endemetriosis (no way I spelled that right LOL)Not much they can do to help me there, I am too young, as far as they are concerned, to take care of it permanetly. So some pain releif and that will have to do for now. The good thing is, no more worries about babies. Another one could kill me, so I am getting that cared for immediatly. NEway........ keep up the good work...and we will get to where we are going together. And congrats 1000 times for making it strong to day 19. Getting close to 1000 smokes not smoked already, you must feel wonderful. Hugs back....Tara My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/15/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 21 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 534 Amount Saved: $173.25 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 12 Mins: 31 Seconds: 42

Tomorrow...

Oh jazphoto...u must be after my heart. I understand completely. When it comes to drinking.....oh yeah. It is the most acceptable activity in my town to go out for drinks and I don't drink at all. I used to, till I was drugged, now I have no taste for the stuff. But if anyone around here asks, and I let them in on the fact that i don't drink, they think I'm nuts, or that I think I'm better than them. What a laugh, I take this as though they know they are doing something wrong, most of the prople here are drunks, and it makes them feel better to see someone else doing the same thing. Like smoking, or doing drugs. As for people wanting to see you fail...that's why no one this time knew I was quitting outside of the people I live with. (I had to warn them, afterall)I got so sick of hearing, 'I'll believe it when I see it', 'For how many hours this time', or a flat out 'Yeah, Right'. So I did it. For me. Because I wanted to live a smoke free life and not be a slave to anything, anymore. This quit is the first time I have lasted over 12 hours without lighting up in 14 years, and now look at me....working on Day 21 and still going strong. Thanks to all my friends here. I know that without the full support I have gotten here, I would not have made it this far. And that's not to take away from what I have done. I knew I needed help, that's why I came here. And it was given, full-fledged, and no questions asked. Everyone here has been right where you are, and we know what it's like to feel helpless against this addiction. So we help each other. (Like the thread on art, I have come so close to giving up because I can't paint/draw lately. But I know it's just a phase and it too will improve. I was an artist long before a smoker.)Just keep going, keep fighting, and we will all be here for you. Even if the people you know in everyday life are not. Anytime you need to chat, just send out a post. We can get through this. Another HUGE plus point for quitting!

that is so reassuring about the dentist. I have been avoiding the phone knowing that the call is coming any day to tell me that they have room for me to go get a tooth pulled. And I seem to have the same problem with hooked roots. Just one of my wisdom teeth (and I had 3 pulled) took 5 hours work to pull and 10 days recovery time. Thanks mostly to those darn hooked roots. Thanks to me for quitting and making things easier on myself. Who are the Febuary 07 Quitters?

Hey everyone, just wanted to say I'm still hanging in there and not smoking. Feeling pretty crappy cuz I had day surgery yesterday but it felt good to be able to relax afterword without worring about when I could smoke again. Anyway, hang in there everyone. We all have a great quit going. Oh and Nuahs28 (my hubby) is on day 25 and without any signs of cracking. (I'm so proud of him......the lucky %@#* !!) 1 Month Quit!!

Well, I am posting this now, as I am actually able to get out of bed for a few minutes. I have almost 1 month Smoke-Free. I love it. It feels so great to not have that dirty ashtray by my bed, to not have to roll smokes each morning or in the evening before bed, to no longer waste my money on cancer sticks. And so many other great things. To smell better, to feel better, to heal faster (that's a big one right now). For the first time since I started smoking, after 6 hours in the hospital yesterday my last thought was when could I have a smoke. Instead, I worried about feeling better and listening to the doctor. And did it ever feel good to have the doctor and nurses proud, proud of my quit. And I owe it all to you guys and me. Me for quitting, and you for helping me, no questions asked, whenever I needed it. So, at almost 1 month smoke free........Thanks Everyone. And to the February quitters.....keep going strong. We can all earn our own great stats, become longtimers ourselves, and then we can be there for all the newbies who need to see that it can be done! My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/15/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 28 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 718 Amount Saved: $231 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 1 Mins: 4 Seconds: 2

carrots- go figure

I am so glad you found something that helps right off the bat. That will definatly make the first, and hardest days go by so much easier. I found driving very difficult in the beginning, and becuase I love to drive that stank. But before long it got better. In fact, I find myself getting frustrated less and less when I am behind the wheel. Just hang in there. And remember it really does get better as time goes by. Once you have faced each trigger a few times, and not caved in, they get easier and easier to face.
