Rainie - great post.
I can totally relate to the gaining of time - I never fully realized how much time & stress I used up smoking. I was constantly thinking about when I'd be able to smoke next, always obsessing about making sure I had enough cigarettes left, etc. And, I hated going out to dinner - as they don't allow smoking in restaurants/bars here. There are so many experiences I wasn't fully present at because I was distracted by my desire/need to smoke. What a waste!
It helps to focus on the baggage we've shedded & the amazing things we're gaining by being non-smokers, rather than focusing on the struggle involved. I know that for these past 5 days, I've found myself (many, many times) stuck in the "poor me" perspective. Playing the victim doesn't help!
The moral = YIPPY for me - I'm on my 6th day smoke-free!

Cali -
I'm sorry to hear about the fight with your friend.
You said that you're not craving now, just want to "get the blood flowing...have more energy". Nicotine is a stimulant, so it will give you a temporary bit of energy, but then you'll crash again. However, the smoke fills & clogs your lungs - less oxygen gets in when you breath - this zaps your energy. And, the smoke has carbon monoxide which is poison...poison can't be good for energy... ;)
So, here are some things you might want to do instead...
*Go for a brisk walk
*Take a shower
*Drink a glass of OJ (something with Vitamin C)
*Splash cool water on your face
*Eat a banana
*Do some yoga or stretching
*Keep writing & reading posts here
You CAN be smoke-free today!

Yeah - the dreaming part is a very positive side effect of Chantix!
Hadenuf....why did you stop the Chantix after only 4 weeks?

Yes, you can still do this!!! Any thoughts of trying something else (the gum, the inhaler, Chantix, etc.)?

Congratulations!
Try to distract yourself and stay very busy! Something about cinnamin seems to help too (cinnamin gum, red hots, etc). And, remember to chug lots of water constantly!

Freebird's info is really scary!
Does anyone have those medical facts about what happens when you quit...I use to have them. It tells you what happens after a day of not smoking, then a week, etc.. (shows how your body is repairing itself).
