Quitting in the morning

Welcome Andy, Congrats on your decision to join us non-smokers. Sometimes I'm still amazed that I don't smoke anymore...I smoked for over 35 years. In my first days as a non-smoker I spent alot of time on this site reading and working the program at the left.Since I am addicted to nicotine I know that just one slip and I could be back to smoking again...I don't EVER want to go there again. I like to tell myself(as so many of us on this site do) N.O.P.E.-Not One Puff Ever.Someone on this site suggested writing that down and that's exactly what I did, I made a couple of N.O.P.E. notes and stuck them on my monitor and in my office area. Make several if you need to...just don't let the evil monster drag you down that hole again-you're stronger than that :eg: Stay strong! Welcome Julie, Sounds like you're determined-that's great. I love refering to myself as a non-smoker. In the beginning I also did alot of deep breathing and chewed big wads of sugar-free gum. june 10, quit day/after relapse

Welcome jeanigirl, What a great decision you made! I'm glad you realize that you are an addict(as are all of us here). We know that we cannot have even one drag(puff) of a cig. Has anyone told you about N.O.P.E.? Alot of us will write that on Post Its and plaster them around the house/office to remind us " Not One Puff Ever". Working the program at the left is a great tool and reading the posts is very helpful. If you need help just ask, these people are wonderful. I'll be thinking of you on Saturday the 10th and sending good vibes .:p You can do this.I smoked for over 35years and I still think to myself-wow I'm a non-smoker! I love it!! :) Trudy My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 78 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,810 Amount Saved: $233.22 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 14 Mins: 7 Seconds: 39

June-Bug Check up

Hi Mama, You've made a great decision to be a non-smoker. We are all very proud of you. Feeling sorry for yourself may just be the evil nicotine monster :eg:talking. If you want to feel sorry for yourself for awhile-go ahead, crawl into bed, pull the covers up and don't do a damn thing. We are nicotine addicts and the nicotine demon will try anything to keep its nasty claws on us so it can drag us down into that dark smelly hole.Don't let it! I took lots of deep breaths, drank alot of water and chewed lots of sugarless gum(big wads sometimes). I am loving being a non-smoker :p!! My car and house smell CLEAN. I don't feel like a second-class citizen hiding in the shadows so that I can grab a cigarette when I'm out and about in public. I'm not tapping my foot at the movie theather wondering when I can finally get outside for a smoke. I'm not wondering if the person I'm talking to can smell the stale stink of cigarettes on my breath and clothes. Make sure you work the program at the left and keep those reasons for quiting close at hand so that you can refer to them as often as you need to. Sometimes I catch myself thinking- Hey I do not smoke and I'm amazed...I smoked for over 35years.I learned another thing on this great site that helped me - N.O.P.E.-Not One Puff Ever. I know that even if I'm feeling strong, I cannot take one puff on a cigarette. I will not tempt myself.I choose to live and be a non-smoker!! There's a hug, Trudy ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 83 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,924 Amount Saved: $248.17 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 3 Mins: 3 Seconds: 22
