Hi Na,
Finding this site has helped me a great deal in my quit. I love breathing clean fresh air. My car and my house smell clean. I'm no longer a slave to cigarettes, the phlegm in the back of my throat is gone, I've stopped wheezing and this is after only 1 month(almost). I did not plan my quit day far into the future, I decided one day that after I smoked all the cigarettes in the pack I wouldn't buy anymore.I was scared silly but I was also excited for my journey to begin. So for the rest of that day I used nicotine gum. When I woke up the next morning I didn't use the gum-I did cold turkey- I wanted the nicotine and other poisons out of my system fast. So I just did it.I drank alot of water and took ALOT of deep breaths, I also spent alot of time on this site--I really love it and all the cool people too!I smoked for over 35 years.Welcome to the rest of your life.
Trudy :)

Hi guys, it's been almost 1 month since I quit the evil stick. It seems like a long time since I smoked-I don't miss it.My car smells so clean & no more nasty ashes sprinkled over the dashboard & car seats. My daughter came home from college for Easter & said that the house smelled clean!I have gained some weight but I'm dealing with that-my main objective is to get over the addiction. I owe a big THANK YOU to this site and you wonderful people.
Hugs and kisses :) :) ;)

Joyful, I'm sorry you had such a hard time. I see that you did not give in to the evil demon-that's great. Keep up the good work(and it IS work).

Milaya, the cravings Will pass. Don't let that evil addiction take over your mind, stay strong. I love the breathing suggestion from Lana, that works for me all the time, I love to breathe in fresh clean air.I also like to go overboard on chewing sugar-free gum...sometimes huge wads at a time. Look over your reasons for quitting, that helps me too.Hang in there and let us know how you're doing.

Hi AliRiza. What a great bunch of people on this site, right? Many of us were/are in similar positions regarding depression and anxieties. I will echo what many have said today...you have to want to quit more than you want to smoke. I didn't know that that would ever be true for me but-it was.I smoked for over 35 years. I was both scared and excited when I put out that last cigarette just a few weeks ago. My resolve to stay quit has been so strong, I owe alot of gratitude to all these wonderful friends here.I love to read the posts. There is also so much information on this site, remember to work the program on the left and read and re-read everything on this site. Like Healer said, when you're ready to stop, we'll be here to support you.
