Hi Molly67,
Welcome to the site and congrats on your choice to quit smoking-good for you! I too smoked for far too many years -36ish to be exact. Maybe when you feel like lashing out at someone you can recognize it as part of withdrawl and try something else instead-a deep breath and counting to 10? I think taking your dog for a walk is wonderful, you'll both benefit from that. And now that you are smoke-free your dog won't be breathing in second-hand smoke-another benefit! So take those long walks and enjoy being together and remember to do the program at the left.
Good luck,
Trudy

Hi Commit,
So sorry you're having such a hard time. Are you using any of the nicotine replacement tools? I found the gum to be helpful the first day-I haven't used it since but it took the edge off that day. Deep breathing has always helped me. Why not re-read your quit program?
Hang in there,
Trudy

Hey penquin,
Glad you came back! This time when you quit think about how bad you felt when you had the setback--were you physically sick to your stomach? Did your head spin? How about the nasty taste of those cigarettes and the burning in your throat and lungs! Do you remember how your heart began to race and you felt spaced out, maybe shaky? Remembering those awful things might help you stay quit. And of course log on to this site and read, read, read.

Hey Commit,
You're right, not many people use the ssc messenger. I think someone once said that the reason is - with the group thing you get to see everyone's post at the same time.I too felt weird and alone on my quit day but I stayed on this site and read and worked the program and it helped alot. I also tried not to dwell on the fact the I was not smoking, instead I did deep breathing and enjoyed the clean air going into my lungs-it's relaxing too. Hang in there and get rid of those nasty, smelly cigarettes.
Trudy ;p

Hi Coben,
Welcome to the site. You'll find lots of things to help you in your freedom from smoking journey. It's great that you and your spouse are in this together. I'm also curious about the laser thing, what it that?

I'm with you CobenFan, I've been eating like a pig these past few days. And it's not from hunger.I joined sparkpeople recently but eveything is a little overwhelming right now.One thing I won't do is smoke a cigarette. I'm spending way too much time in front of the computer trying to navigate around websites. I think I just need to get off my big butt and move around. As a matter of fact-I'll do that right now. Talk to you all later.
