Time to bow out

Hiya Butterfly, sure will miss you :( I've always appreciated having u in here. Well...one thing to think about,,,ok a few things,,,1. If you start smoking again, you will be setting a very bad example for the kids you'll be teaching, 2. If u start smoking again, you will die sooner therfore not be around as long to teach the kids. So what good is giving up one of your best support resources, "US", so that you say you'll get better grades, if you slip again and not around to teach the kids anyhow. Are u following me? LOL I'm sure I could have said it in a simpler way,,,ummmmm,,,what good is school if you're not around to use the knowledge?? I don't think it's a good idea to use the excuse of your addiction to the site to say that's the reason you're getting bad grades. I think (my opinion, for what it's worth), that you should allow yourself 1 visit every other day for 20 or 30 min's,,,just an example. Balance is something important to learn also :) And u have the opportunity in this situation. It can be a positive learning experience as well :) Remember, giving up smoking is all about saving your life. When I put myself in the recovery home to quit drinking I had to put my life on hold for about 4mos to just work on me. They told us the statistics at the recovery home for a person to make it sober for a life time would be 1 in 10,,,so out of the 40 people there, only 4 of us will make it. I'm going on 10yrs now because I was willing to do the work to "change" myself. Some of the people there died within the 1st year. Addiction is a serious disease and really needs to be taken seriously in order to make it :) Just as serious as your grades if not more serious b/c if your dead you won't be able to teach. So in the long run maybe,,,you could learn now to balance your time so that you can still fit in this site/lifeline to help u stay quit. It's all about learning to be responsible (being able), to make yourself stick to your time schedule. I truly believe if u want to, u can limit your time here and get good grades. Nothing is black & white, there's grey in everything. Balance/responsibility is a good change :)I know I'm going on and on but the truth is you need this site just as much as u need good grades. At least...that's "my opinion". I know u can find a w

Can't Hold Me Down

I've had quite a few smoking dreams but not any for awhile now. I remember someone saying that if you have them, it means that you're in your forever quit. I don't know how true that is but I'm coming up on my year now. And also, coming up on 10 yrs sober in April & I still have drinking dreams from time to time. It's such a gift everytime when you wake up and realize...IT WAS ONLY A DREAM, lol. Keep up the gr8 work!!! WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! No matter what don't lite up... Keep on keepin on... Done Lost my Mind

Hi there :) Learn to be thankful for your past :) If it weren't for the past you wouldn't be where u are now. So don't regret the past. But for today,,,STOP thinking about the past! And don't worry about the future :) You're very new in your quit and just starting your new fresh ("new u") life. That's plenty to do today :) It's the junkie in you that's messing with your head because the junkie in you wants u to die. So for now, stick with us today,,,us as in people who really care about you :) Hang in there and you'll make it through today :) I did it,,,so can you. I promise you that it will get better. Just stay outta the past and outta the future. Just stay in today and the moment,,,breath deep, scream, beat up your pillow, cry, sleep, pray,,,,do whatever it takes to get through today. No matter what don't lite up... Keep on keepin on... Stress as an Excuse To Smoke

Hi again Ang, Learning to deal with your emotions is one of the main parts of quitting. Nothing is ever bad enough to make it worse by smoking. Check out the thread "Let Them Fall". Crying will be a gr8 contribution to helping u grow up emotionally. The NEW YOU, will start to overcome the OLD YOU & THE JUNKIE IN YOU. Once this happens it will get easier and easier to get through the stressful times. I see what your saying in your post but at the same time u really will have some stressful times that will seem at the time to be unbearable. But as long as u don't smoke you'll grow into the person who no longer feels the need to smoke. No matter what don't lite up... Keep on keepin on...
