Hi Sadie,
Well done for those 5 days......Stay Strong!
Yes it is quite normal to get cravings when on the patch. There are so many types of cravings and causes. There are the pure physical withdrawal one, the pure habit ones, the psychological ones, and many mixtures of them all. The patch only HELPS you to overcome the terrible addiction of smoking, YOU do the rest.
I used the patch right from the start to the end of the course and it was great. I hate to imagine how I'd have been without it!
As for the negative feelings assiciated with the quit...those are for YOU to overpower with really positive thoughts and attitude....hard to do, but possible.
Keep those coping skills to hand and remain focused and strong!
WHATEVER IT TAKES, JUST DON'T SMOKE!!!
Lolly. :)

Hi Morningglory,
Many months ago, when I was wondering the same thing myself, a wise person on this site said it would take a trip through all the seasons to accustom yourself to being an ex-smoker.
At the time, that seemed a very long trip, but it gave me a focus and made me look forward not back. I could think...OK that's spring over, now it's summer and so on. Each season brought its own difficulties.
I must tell you that I felt really comfortable long before the last season was over. You did the right thing posting a pity post....we can all understand how you feel.
I'm sure you know there will be a few more hard days to come, but be ready for them and pull out all the old faithful coping mechanisms.
You are right, it takes a while to recover from 30 (in my case, 40) years of smoking, but it is so worth it!
Never Look Back, The Future is Ahead!!!
Lolly. :)

Dear Bob & Roxanne,
You will be soooo missed on this site.
I do understand why you feel the need to leave, but, like others, I wonder which came first the chicken or the egg. Anyway, I just want to thank you for your friendship and for so much wisdom gleaned from contact with you and Roxy
I will remain in contact with you I hope and I wish you both all you wish yourselves for the future.
Huge Congratulations for the 2 anniversaries......18 months and 6 months.
I love you both.........Lolly. :)

Oh! Lady,
How I feel for you! What you are feeling is all part of the whole quitting process. Many of us have felt just as you do/did on our long journey. It's so hard when you have been so positive in the past, and helped so many others with positive thoughts etc.
You did the right thing to come here and not try to manage it on your own.......I tried to do that and just got more and more down. I should have talked to my friends here as you did.
Like you, I smoked at the start due to low self esteem and wanting to 'fit in.' Quitting gave me the best sense of self esteem I could ever have wanted....the ability to say "Damn, but I'm good!!! I did it!!!" All of that, however does not take away the times you are talking about, when you want to sit down with a cigarette for company. We know we will not do it, but I'm not too sure there is something with which to replace that moment we used to have.
To tell you the truth, I do not replace it, I just cry. The tears cleanse and I can look forward after that process. Times change. All the time we lose things in our lives, but we also gain so much. I think you are having such a negative time......go with the flow and don't dwell in this stage. Find the positive in the future and go with that instead.
I've been where you are my friend, and I've come out the other side. You will too!
I keep reiterating what I read years ago...quitting properly takes about 2 years, for weight etc. etc. Take that time and mov witht he changes. As I approach my 2 year anniversary this coming November, I'm sure I will experience more surprises. It's been quite a journey!
NEVER LOOK BACK, THE FUTURE IS AHEAD!
Love from Lolly. :) ((((((HUGS))))))
