Relationships and Anxiety

Hi!

How does anxiety impacts your relationships? For me...my partner doesn't seem to understand and I think he blames me when I just don't feel up to being around people. I often feel guilty that I am holding him back. I also know my friends likely think it's messed up when I just disappear for a few weeks - it's usually when I am just not up to leaving the house. I give made up excuses to both my friends and boyfriends. I'm hoping I will get better with time but I just wish they could undestand what it's like....it's not like I can just wish it away. Ugh I am feeling frustrated? Can anyone relate?

First Trophy - I learned I avoid WAY too much

Hi all!

I finished the first trophy. It was a lot easier then I thought it would be! I have no idea why I was procrastinating so long starting it. It explains a lot about college lolz. I may have been avoiding!! I learned I avoid a lot due to my anxiety. It's become a real problem and it is so tough to break. I feel like it's been getting worse over the years. I sometimes wonder what my life would be like if I didn't avoid so much. Is it just me or does anyone else feel a bit apprehensive about facing the avoiding behaviour?

New to the group......not new to anxiety

I'm soooooo glad you posted. I was beginning to worry that there was not many people posting lol. I can totally understand how you feel. I think my stress and anxiety is getting worse with time too. I can leave my house but I get super stressed when I even think about driving or meeting up with people. I have started the program and so far I really like it. I am really hopeful it will help. I hope it starts helping you soon. I have already noticed some small difference so that makes me really pumped about the future. On to session 3 as soon as a get t he motivation to get started. I find I always procrastinate but once I get started it's easier than i thought. u should give it a shot!!!

Panic Attacks again

Hiya Tulip!

Welcome to the group! I have just finished session 3. Yay! So far so good.

Panic Attacks are so scary I know. I have found when I am less anxious overall I experience fewer panic attacks. So far I think the program as helping with that! I also use deep breaths and self talk like you. I would be super interested to hear other suggestions from other people too! Thanks for posting this Q!

jobs that are good for the anxiety prone

Hmmmmmm have you thought about working for another postal type service where maybe you could deliver while walking instead of driving? If you liked cooking have you considered working for a bakery or some other job with food but not rush hours?

How to talk to loved ones

Hi Gary,

I just told my partner and close friends pretty honestly. I also showed them this website. My close friends understand but I often try to hide my anxiety when I am around them or make excuses. My best friend is the most understanding as she has anxiety issues herself. I say, just go for it and tell them. They probably already know something is up. My boyfriend doesn't understand anxiety at all so avoid talking to him about it. I feel he thinks it's an annoyance more then anything but I can't expect him to understand something he has never really experienced. I would talk to them about it and then you will know for sure who will be a supportive person in your recovery and who you may want to avoid talking to about it.

Panic attacks and exercise

Hi!

I've had panic attacks when driving. They are so scary. This program has been teaching me a lot. A lot of it has to do with practice and slowly becoming accustom to whatever makes you panic. Also working on changing how u view things. I really recommend getting started. I have to push myself but whenever I complete a session I feel good about it. I am planning to come off meds too but I want to complete the program first. I feel like it will be easier that way. DId you already start coming off lexipro?

I know I shouldn't be think stressed but I am :(

Program Buddies

Hi all,

I have completed the first few sessions and I just can't get motivated to keep going. I have wanted to have more completed by now. I thought it might help if other people were doing the program along with me. Has anyone started the program or finished a few sessions?

I would love to chat with you. Please post! I feel like I am all alone doing this program :(
