We know that it is really important to slow down but it is difficult do put this in practice. In my case I found that practicing yoga regularly helps me slowing down.
Hello anerol. In my case my last therapist was recommended by my doctor. But before having an appointment with this new therapist I had a phone call with him to see if there was any report. My doctor said that the most important thing in choosing a therapist (independently of the methodologies used) is if you think you can establish a trustworthy relationship with them.
Reading is indeed a very relaxed activity for me. In the past I mostly read business books and even became obsessed about this kind of books. Now I try to read all kinds of books so I can have a broader perspective about the world.
I suggest you to visit a gook bookstore and see what you would like to read. Keep us posted about your reading choices.
Good point Ashley. I know I have to rediscover again the joy of being with people. Interpersonal relationships are so important to our health and well being and challenging social anxiety is the beginning to better relationships.
Hello justducky. It seems you are having an hard time and you are not seeping also. I understand you very well because my main problem was the lack of sleep and hight levels of anxiety. I have to switch 3 times from doctors and finally I thing I am on the right meds because I sleep much better and my wife said that it noticed a big mood improvement.
I have a problem with to do lists. They are wonderful and it is a good way to get things done. The problem is when I write too many things to do, I feel overwhelmed and anxious.
For example, today I wrote 7 tasks in the to do list and I am always reading the to do list to see how many tasks I have to complete. My anxiety levels rise with the thinking of so many activities to complete.
I have tried to write only 3 tasks in a day, but if I finish them sooner I spend the rest of the day doing nothing.
Any tips are welcome for working with to do lists in an effective way.
Hugs4u, I already have read "Getting Things Done" by David Allen but I think it is very complicated and in my case I arrived at the conclusion that what works is simplicity. The audit ourselves part is very useful as you already suggested and I will do just that on the following days to see where I spend (or waste) my time.
Ashley, I think I have here the potential to do some exposure work. I will write a to do list and prioritize it (1, 2, 3, 4, ...).
Do you think it is better to estimate and write the time needed to complete each activity?
We have so good weather here in Portugal and especially in the summer. Our beaches are wonderful and today I spend the afternoon on the beach. The water was so warm today...
