FEAR List Exposed

Hi, I see a lot of myself in the lists. My fears are: driving ( i used to but had panic attacks now i'm too scared to) flying ( I used to but havent in 5 years) I just quit my job because of panic attacks. I hadnt had panic for 2 years, I was off my meds even. Going out alone, with my husband i'm fine but alone, i just recently got a panic attack. being in a car in a crash severe summer storms dentist ( i have to go for a crown its gotten to the point where i just have to go, i'm terrified of the needle.) My doctor cant seem to find the right meds for me, she keeps changing them. I feel like a guinea pig, I would like to try find other ways to help me, instead of the meds. I know its ok to take them, but the side effects are awful. Felt good to say that to others who have the same fears, thanks for being there.

medication

HI, I saw my GP on tuesday, and she was going to increase my meds, instead she decided to put me on Efexor. I feel like she just wants to keep changing my meds, and if it doesnt work lets just put me on something else. Has anyone heard of Efexor? I saw its for depression, but is it for anxiety? I"m not super depressed or anything like that..I have my moments its more about the anxiety for me. I am still on the celexa and havent picked up the prescription yet. Most of the stuff I read online says one can beat anxiety without meds, as if you keep taking meds you just supress the problems and dont really fix them or help them. I"m so confused about whats out there for meds!!!

FEAR List Exposed

I try just keep talking to myself sometimes with I guess self talk. I try to say over and over again " you'll be ok", I say it allowed so I actually hear it. I've been trying to go for walks every day now, and I keep walking a bit further, sometimes its hard to go walking and I just say, you can do it, you need this, you'll be fine, and after i've walked a bit it passes, i do have setbacks but I try not to be too hard on myself. Today I didnt walk, I just felt so tired.

Does this happen to you

I have been trying to follow the progam, I printed out all the notes and I try read them when i feel panicky, then i know its going to be ok. I have to read the notes often to feel any sense of getting better. My husband sat in on my session with the psycologist and that helped a huge amount, He has a bit more of an understanding not to be annoyed when I get anxious, but to be supportive, and not be too hard on me.

TRAFFIC LIGHTS - gradual exposure

I have a drivers license but havent driven in about 10 years. I feel that I dont have any independance, I used to live in Toronto, so it was easy with transportation, now I live in the US in Eagan, Minnesota. The bus system is once an hour and not on weekends. My husband has to drive me everywhere. I tried to drive a bit, but I was scared of how fast the traffic moves here, also i'm scared of left turns and traffic lights, and bridges and tunnels. I cant walk on a bridge, I run accross them.

TRAFFIC LIGHTS - gradual exposure

Hi Dina, thanks for your input. I will start doing a bit of driving around my neighbourhood, on the side streets, we live in an area with lots of little streets that all link up. So that may be good for me, Just once a week or something. I agree about going with someone, my husband always is trying to be supportive, but I get more nervous. Its great that you are still driving, thats awesome. Even if you pull over, at least you carry on.

Obsessively Afraid

Miki, I have had the same thoughts about death, I have been terrified and the exact same as you. I almost threw up for conjuring up all these thoughts from fear. Now that I joined this website, I feel a lot better about things. Its great to be able to have this support group, I didnt know there were others like me, and it comforts me to see i'm not alone. Also I watched, and listened on Oprah about this book called "the new earth". Oprah discusses it with the author. At first I rolled my eyes when someone told me to listen to it. You can listen to it on your computer, they have the chapters. Its very interesting. The first chapter is a bit confusing, but I found chapter 5 the most interesting for anxiety sufferers. Let me know what you think?

Leapro causing insomnia~ Cant sleep!

I dont sleep well anymore, since my anxiety came back. I got sleeping pills but I felt too medicated so I stopped taking them. I take some sleepy teas, You have to becareful tho, check with the doc as some have reactions to anxiety meds. My doc said chamomile was ok. Some nights I sleep straight through and some, like last night, I slept for 3 hours, woke up..feel asleep properly at about 5:00 am. Also try not to have caffeine after 1:00 pm..I cut back on that big time, it sort of helps too.
