1st day

Is there anyone else out there who is on their first day? I drank with some friends on Sunday shooting darts but came home and made a cup of herb tea . Felt good about that and did not have a drink yesterday. I guess the taking it one day at a time is quite pertinent.

21 days.....

Congrats and I have to tell you how much inspiration your message gave me. I am only on day 2 of not drinking and I have listed my goal as 2 drinks per day but really want 0. That  just seemed too far out of reach to start though. I hate the morning after wondering what I did, who did I call or email, what did I eat was also on the list. Thanks for your input and good luck.

Sue here

Oh Sue, that is tough. I was dating a drinker (alcoholic is what he called himself) drinking some nights an 18 pack of beer. I started getting into the habit of wanting to be wasted since he was but in the end all of our fighting led to a break up. Probably best for me. It is very hard to quit any vice when your sig. other is still doing it. My girlfriend is going through that with smoking now. Her husband is not very supportive. Will not go outside to smoke. Very tough but she is determined. Hang in there.

1st day

I remember my other attempts and cutting back drinking and day 3 was the hardest and the one I usually gave in to. Can any one remember back that far? Tomorrow will be my day 3 again so will be very aware of the feelings that arise and do my best to stay drink free.......................

1st day

So great to get your reply. Thanks for the input. Believe it or not my diet is pretty healthy. I do not drink soda so am relying on herb and green tea, frozen yogurt and lots of water. The lemon is a good idea. Will get some tomorrow. Day just about over. Made it. Keep in touch.

1st day

Congratulations on the no smoking. My girlfriend is going through it now and it is a hard one to beat. I am heading into my 3rd day with out a drink. I want to say "I don't have a drinking problem" but if you drink every day, look forward to it, can't  have just one, well I have to admit I do have a drinking problem. I am 63 and have been drinking most of my adult life. I have had 2 DUI's, the last one 2 years ago. Yes, I have a problem and I am finally going to do something about it, for me. I live alone, no boy friend & no family so it is going to be a tough road. Drinking is my friend, companion, soul mate. I am not going to say I am going to be able to quit all together but if I can quit drinking alone that would be a major step. Thanks for listening to my story. I appreciate all the support and a place to let this out.

1st day

Glad I could be of some help. There are so many flavored herb and green teas now. Fun to try all different ones, hot or iced. Well heading to the Y for an aerobic work out then to my book club meeting. Just trying to keep busy. Days are not the problem, nights are the worst. Glad I have my dog and cat. They give me lots of support. Have a wonderful day....
