Quitting Smoking Tomorrow.

Hi Jake! Yes one thing for sure this nasty addiction is not an easy one to quit. Have you ever tried using a nicotine patches or other quitting aides?  I used the nicotine patches and it was a blessing for me. I knew I just wasn't strong enough to quit cold turkey. One thing I will say is that once I decided to quit and focused on quitting one day at a time it was quite helpful. Along with the physical addition comes the mental addition as well. For me I would have to say that the mental part of the quit is by far the most difficult. Change daily habits up, go home from work using different routes, change the times of regular routines, these things are helpful as well. Best of luck to you on your journey and be sure to keep us updated.

Celebrating 2 Months smoke free!

Hi Sparrow and Timbo!! Well happy to report that I am still smoke free. In an other 5 days it will be 3 months free of my addition. Sparrow: I would say that for the most part the cravings are gone. Every once in a while out of the blue one will hit me like a brick wall, but I stand strong and the urge passes very quickly. I no longer use any nicotine aids as well, so I am absolutely free of all the garbage that I was feeding myself. When I look at the meter and see how many cigarettes I HAVE NOT smoked I think to myself, good grief that was a lot of cigarettes and a boat load of cash as well. It's still hard to believe that I did this and am doing this, never thought I would ever be able to kick the addiction.

Getting ready to quit

So sorry to hear of your loss. It's never easy to lose a best friend and part of your family. I have had to do that too many times in my life, it's never easy.

Celebrating 2 Months smoke free!

Thanks Timbo!  Yes it's hard to believe that I actually did it. Never thought I could get past those beginning days and weeks where it just seemed so overwhelming.  My reward will be some new add ons for my Pick Up Truck this fall. Just banking the money saved at this point. Never could have done that either without putting the smokes down for good. It does feel great to be free of the addiction.

I was tempted big time!!!

Well I hit my 3 month mark a day ago and for the most part the cravings are completely gone but I found out the other day how quickly that can change if you allow it. I have kept myself away from other smokers during my quit and have asked any family members that smoke to keep it away from me as well. While I was at working on a car the other day the owner had left a pack of cigarettes with 2 smokes still inside the pack. Oh my GOD was I tempted. I had to take a deep breath, step back and truly convince my mind that NO I could not just have one. I could have easily done it as no one was around to confront me, but after 20 minutes of debating with my subconscious I remained strong knowing I have come too far to let in to that temptation now. Just reminds me that even though I have come this far, there are still going to be times where my mind tells me it's only just one, how can that hurt. I have to remain diligent against the beast.
