21 Smoke Free Days

WHOO HOO!!!! 21 days smoke free today. Thank you all for your support over the last 21 days. It is quite an accomplishment for me to have gone this long without smoking. I still have to remind myself at times that this is real.
In 21 days I can breathe a bit easier, starting to smell things again, starting to taste foods again, and there are many times now during the day when I don't even think about smoking. Slow but sure I am breaking the chains of the nicotine addition. One minute, one hour, one day at a time.

Tomorrows Big Challenge

Hi Sparrow! Well today is day 21 for me, WHOO HOO!. Like you said the hardest part is now behind us, it's more of a mental battle for me now. It's amazing that in such a short period of time I am no longer thinking " Oh how I wish I could have just one smoke today". Crazy as this sounds it's almost like I say to myself now, "Wow I forgot to think about not having a smoke." Each day I go without smoking gives me more resolve to stay smoke free. This addiction is so ugly and tries to deceive you in so many ways, you just have to be strong at every temptation and remind yourself how far you have come and that you will NOT let your guard down. Thanks for sharing, it's wonderful to have someone who understands exactly what this means to be a non smoker. KEEP UP THE FIGHT, we are winning!!!!

Quitting tomorrow

Hey Sparrow sorry to hear about your bad news yesterday. "Ultimately l didnt smoke so l guess l had a win but l feel very flat about the whole situation."  I think you need to be really proud of yourself. You were definitely facing some difficult challenges yesterday but you didn't give in to the nicotine beast. I for one am proud of you. I completely understand what you mean by places and situations that were so comfortable when you smoked and now when you don't it feels like there is some kind of void that needs to be filled. It's the nicotine beast playing head games that's for sure. As much as I try to stay away from stressful situations there is always some ***t that comes up that tests me and I can't lie, even after 21 days smoke free there are times that I really have to fight the beast back. " I didnt want to undo the work ld put in and I knew l would regret it after just one cigarette" That's a great way to look at it. I find myself saying almost the identical thing when I am tested. All I know is that as time continues to pass this will continue to get easier and that I just need to remain strong and diligent. I think your doing great, STAY STRONG!!!

Having a bad Day Three

Hi Terra I understand how you feel with the unyielding call from the nicotine devil. These things will pass and decrease with time. Keep up the GREAT fight, you can beat the nicotine demon. Remember one minute, one hour, one day at a time. Stay strong, you can do this!

Mind Games

24 days smoke free today and I still have those moments where my brain tells me I really need a smoke. Sorry, NOT Happening. I thought though that I should share this latest mind game the beast is trying to play with me. I can't say up to this point that I have had any problems with sleep or even strange dreams. Yet last night I dreamt I was visiting friends and the first thing I did when I arrived was grab a cigarette and light up. Then I began to panic as to where I left my pack of cigarettes so I could have another. At that point I woke up and realized this was just a dream.  I have to say this demon just finds so many ways to try to tempt you. Sorry nico demon, I am still smoke free and plan on staying that way. Sorry for the rant but just had to share that experience with all of you today.

Tomorrow is Day One

Hey Sneaky Smoker you are doing a great job. Keep up the fight. I found that listening to some of my favorite music while driving also works as a great distraction.

Mind Games

Hi Sparrow! You know it's just so amazing how this terrible addition finds all kinds of ways to attempt to sneak in and grab a hold of you. When I was smoking I didn't realize how badly this addition had a hold of me. Sure the nicotine  part I understood, but the mental part of this I don't think I realized until I tried to break the chains it had on me. All the emotions and situations that arise just in one day at times can be quite overwhelming. Even after being 25 days smoke free, it still finds it's way in at times trying to get me back in it's ugly grasp. I am so glad I found this group where I can share and other folks can relate to what I am feeling and going through. Staying strong, one minute, one hour, one day at a time. I know I can beat this monster!!!

Having a bad Day Three

Hi Terra! Sounds like you are making progress with your quit, although I have to admit I don't think I could take on 10 tons of rock. Certainly a great way to divert your mind to other thoughts though. Be sure to keep yourself hydrated while doing all that work and keep us posted on your progress. Keep up the good fight, your doing GREAT!!

An overwhelming feeling of depression

Now I am not one for having feelings of depression. It was  pretty much an uneventful day in regards to stress or worries. So I am not quite sure where this feeling came from but out of the blue I had this overwhelming feeling of depression last night while watching TV.  It lasted for a few hours and then was gone as quickly as it appeared. I have to say my subconscious mind has really been working full time at tempting me to grab a smoke. Strange dreams and now this, good grief it just never gives up does it? So here is my thought for myself today to my subconscious. NO SMOKING, NOT NOW OR EVER AGAIN. GET IT!!!

An overwhelming feeling of depression

Thanks for the reply Ashley. I guess I was expecting symptoms like these to be more prevalent in the earlier stages of quitting. Keeping on as today is my one month mark of being SMOKE FREE- WHOO HOO!
