Something nice to do today.

Must admit it didn't sound right for someone that's been smoke free and a member here for 10 years, just to have 1000 posts, 5000 sounds more like it....unless you're shy.  So hey celebrate it anyway

Good news about the rugby... Unless you're Welsh

Quit Plan: 10-03-14

Oooh another newbie like me, hop aboard.
Hello itsme. I'm only a couple of weeks in here and honestly, if I can do that, anybody can do anything.
Lots of fabulous support in here for you. I depend on this site. At the moment it's my bible. It provides constant re-assurance, constant good sense, and the constant knowledge that neither me, nor you, nor anyone else is alone in this. I'm excited for you.

Penitent has given you some good advice, read, read and then read some more. Knowledge truly is power, the more you know about nicotine and the addiction to it, the better you will be able to recover from it.
I think the things that finally clicked with me was to take each day as it comes, no two days will be the same. Give your body time to heal, don't expect to be over it in a few days. Don't view your body as craving but see it as your body's way of healing from the damage that has been done by smoking.
Try not to look as this journey as giving anything up, making sacrifices, denying yourself anything or depriving yourself of anything......instead view this journey as re-gaining control over your life, your health, your wealth.....Write down all the benefits for not smoking and carry it around with you.
Look to this journey with a positive outlook.....You can do this, You will do this, Just believe in yourself and remember N.O.P.E.
Keep posting and let us know how your doing. Rooting for you

A first for me.

This is exactly the post I was looking to find! Great inspiration and so good to read for us who are just into our quits.
A huge well done to your new found fitness, it's amazingly brilliant that you are putting that extra lung function to good use.
It feels good to know that you were once in my shoes and it's even better to know that one day I will be in your shoes where you are now!!
Well done Working on it, and thank you for sharing this post. You have been, and continue to be, a great inspiration to people like me.

Away but Still Quit

Hi Rita.
Congratulations on your 20 days. I'm so happy to see you're still going strong, was starting to worry about you.
Sorry to hear that you've been having cravings yesterday and today, I've had a few moments like this lately too but no where near as bad as the first couple of days. I think mine are association triggers more than craving though.
Stay strong, you can do this, we both can do this.
Really nice to see you back and posting.

Day 7 and hurting, playing mind games with myself

Hello Greeneyes.
I've been wanting to leave you a reply on here most of the day but have been on and off the forum like a yo-yo so I apologise for the late reply and please bear with me....
First of all welcome to the forum and congratulations on reaching 7 days smoke free, although I think it must be 8 days now.
2 weeks ago I was going through the same thing,
"How would I cope without my ciggies"
"What if I fail again"
"It's part of you"
"You like it"
"You can have just one, no one will ever know "
"Blah blah blah"
But none of this was true....
There is one reason we keep smoking once enjoying it has worn off... and that's fear.
All those fears are BS - we don't need to inhale cigarette smoke to make be happy, to help us cope, concentrate or any of that!!
You  *will*  manage, you  *will*  be fine, and you must try not to worry about it.
Wanna know what worked for me?
I stuck with my gut instinct of wanting to stop, it was the right decision for me and it will be for you too. It's just your mind playing tricks with you. This is what addiction is all about.
Determination is the key, If you want something badly enough, you'll do it.... You just need to want to quit more than you want to smoke.

Stay strong, you CAN do this.
