Starting day 7

Wow...Thank you everyone for your lovely replies.
As of 10.00 pm tonight I will be 14 days free from my nicotine prison and as you can probably see, I'm still like an over-excited child at Christmas. This truly has to be the best thing I have ever done in my whole life and I would like to extend my greatest thanks to everyone on this awesome forum for the wonderful support you have all given me. I still find it amazing that the lovely people that have been quit for years still take time to come here and cheer us newbies on, inspire us with the length of their quits, bump threads up to help us and are always helpful and willing to share their sound advice and knowledge. So you guys have my never-ending admiration, gratitude and love, Thank you
I am pleased to say that the excessive eating seems to have calmed down now, so maybe I won't end up the size of a hippo after all, although I still enjoy the occasional biscuit, I have completely gone off of chocolate  maybe I just need to have a rest from it for a while. I still have an amazing amount of energy and can now get so much more done in a day, or maybe it's because my days have become longer, it's like someone has added a couple of hours on the clock, all I know is that it's a great feeling, one I don't want to lose.
It's great to see that Amanda and Rita are both doing well on their journeys for a smoke free life, I will be keeping a close eye on them both and cheering them both on from the sidelines.
Working on it, Lolly and Jim, I hope you don't think I'm stalking you but I have been following your posts since I first arrived here and you have all been a huge inspiration to me, so thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Hello Jodie, nice to meet you, so to speak. I'm sorry to hear that you are struggling, that Nasty Nic has a lot to answer for. Stay strong and keep reminding yourself of your reasons for quitting. To me there are no loopholes, no easy way out and no good reasons to smoke again. Try not to see stopping smoking as giving anything up, instead look at is as taking things back that are rightfully yours. Take back your health, your wealth, control of your life, your ability to breath better. Take back all the things that the Nasty Nic has robbed from you. Keep looking at the positives and remind yourself daily what you are gaining by not smoking. Please, please please don't feel like you have to struggle alone, that's the wonderful thing about this forum, you are never alone. Please continue to post on here or feel free to pm me if you fancy a chat.
Take care everyone and stay strong.

Hi

Hello George.
Wow you sound like me. It totally sucks when you relapse due to stress, I know because I've been there way too many times. The good news is, that you're trying again...and this time, you're going to do it. You will succeed. 42 days is a brilliant start and also the grounds of the start of a good solid quit, so let's not call it a relapse, let's just call it a practice run, and now you're ready for the real deal.
You really have come to the best place for great advice and support. The old timers (I mean that in quitting time  ) are all so helpful and are always a constant support to everyone, they even bump up posts for us newbies to read. Quite frankly I cannot praise the members on this wonderful forum enough.
Remember to stay positive George, you can do this, we all can. It may feel a bit rough to start with but each time you say 'no' to nicotine, you go a little further along the process. So be patient with yourself, remember your reasons and motivation, respect your triggers and refuse to act upon them, don't put anything stupid in your mouth and just keep choosing not to smoke.
You can do this George.
Take care and stay strong.

Starting day 7

Hello Penitent.
Gosh!! 3576 smoke free days....Seeing these figures is exactly where I want to be. You really are an old pro
Thank you for all your lovely words and kind comments. I hope you don't have to pull me up by my boot straps but if I feel a weak moment coming on, I'll give you a shout
I'll let you into a secret. I read this forum for a couple of weeks before joining and actually taking the quitting plunge. I observed and envied you all because you had done what I felt I couldn't do, this spurned me into action, into reading and educating myself about my nicotine addiction. I knew I had to do something about it, I had to finally take back control of my life. I spent ages plucking up the courage to join and write my first post. You guys on here have been so great and you all have really helped inspire me to give up smoking without even knowing it so I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. You are all my heros.
Hello Viv.
Congratulations on your quit, 406 days is flipping marvelous, I'm slowly catching you up... lol.  Thank you for your lovely comments.

Right I'm off now to delve further back on this lovely forum.

Catch you all later

Here we go again

Hello Forcemac.
Welcome back, it's great to see you here.
Sounds like you have a good plan. Read as much as you can including your old posts,
I'm a great believer that knowledge is power, the more you know about the whole nicotine addiction, the easier it is to beat it. But I'm sure that I don't have to tell you this, as you've done this all before.
Post often and let us know how you're doing. Rooting for you. You can do this.
Stay strong.
