Gaining Weight!

Hi Megger,
Congrats on your cold turkey quit. Sounds like we quit about the same time. I agree with what you said about the lesser of two evils. The risks are greater smoking than being overweight. Once the quit is well under control, the war with the weight can then be fought.
I'm a little concerned with weight gain too. My mother passed and obesity was partly to blame. I've gained 9 pounds since I quit, and I have not changed my eating habits. Must be the lack of adrenalin and slower body metabolism.
Be sure to check out the tools at the top of the page and get your meter running. Hang in there....

What makes smoking inconvienent for you?

Congratulations Fit Indeed on your quit! It doesn't matter how you do it, just as long as it gets done. I'm glad you found something that worked for you.  Maybe it can help someone else too. How long have you been quit?
Once again, way to go!

Quit Plan: 10-03-14

Welcome Itsme,
Penitent and Whisper have about said it all. Read read read!! 5 months was a great start to your quit. You've quit before so you KNOW you can quit again!  It's all in your attitude. If you think you can quit, you can quit. If you think you'll fail, you will fail.  Just keep a positive attitude and take it one day at a time. When you get an urge, deep breaths help. Munch on some carrots, grapes, crackers, hard candy, whatever it takes. Hang in there, the urge will go away in less than 5 minutes. As you know, it WILL get easier as the days go by. Just say N.O.P.E.! Do you know why you relapsed, and can you figure out a way to avoid it this time? If you can't avoid it, can you think of a way to cope with it? Check out the tools at the top of the page and get your meter running. It's nice to see how much you're saving, how long your quit is and how long you've extended your LIFE by not smoking! You're not alone here, we've all been there and done that.

A first for me.

Holly cow Working on it,
Where'd you get all this energy from? It couldn't be from a lack of NICATINE could it?   Isn't life grand when you can actually enjoy it! I'm very proud of your achievement too. Keep it up.

Away but Still Quit

Hi Rita,
Glad to see you're still hanging in there. Like Jim said, it does get easier with time. Really...it does!  Keep fighting those urges any way you can. Remember you're a NON SMOKER now!
